You are in fact correct, The animal did not give consent to die to be turned into a food, but it still doesn’t equate to how horrible r***ng is. We are not talking about killing animals though, we are talking about eating dead animals. Something that is already dead can’t give any consent, so eating meat is COMPLETELY fine. R***ng on the other hand is horrible because the person did not give consent, when they have the opportunity to, because they aren’t dead, which means they TRULY didn’t give consent. R***ng could also ruin people’s lives completely for obvious reasons. Eating meat does not ruin any lives because the cow is already dead, you may argue that buying steak raises demand, so people who want to sell meat have to kill more cows, but personally I think that doesn’t make that big of a difference. No matter the circumstances r***ng is significantly worse than eating meat.
