I once had a friend explain why Elvis was the King of Rock & Roll. In 1973 he broadcast a concert live around the world. One billion people tuned in live, no matter day or night, as it happened. The worlds population was four billion at the time. That means 1/4 of the earth’s population stopped their lives to watch Elvis. Only the King could do that.

I'm an Elvis fan and it was a false story from his manager about 1 billion people. The concert was only showed live in some countries and shown delayed by days, weeks in other countries. He is still the greatest though.

They have only watched “In the Ghetto” live in concert, and only a few performances recorded live, the Frank Sinatra duet “Love Me Tender/Witchcraft” and “If I Can Dream”. “Blue Suede Shoes” was a lip-sync for a motion picture screen test, “Wooden Heart” from a movie, and they listened to the studio versions of “Little Sister”, “Santa Claus is Back in Town”, and “Suspicious Minds”. For “Jailhouse Rock”, like most reactors, they chose the blurry inferior quality upload that says (Music Video) instead of the crystal clear TCM version. I would LOVE for them to go back to Elvis’ professional beginning in 1954-55 at Sun Records. “That’s All Right”, “Mystery Train”, “Blue Moon”, “Baby, Let’s Play House” and then all the great stuff from his breakout year of 1956 like “I Want You, I Need You, I Love You”.

@@Great-Documentaries You don't have to insult someone just because you think they're old. And Elvis was still selling sold out shows right till his very last concert, so I guess he wasn't that irrelevant. His home is declared a National Historic Landmark, with still over half a million visitors each years. This summer, even after all the movies and documentaries made about his life, there's still a new Elvis biopic coming in 2022. So you can dislike and knock him down all you want, but this guy is still a long way from being irrelevant yet.

My mother was a young teen in the '50's when Elvis was new and popular and The King (he still is). Her and her girlfriends would listen and dance to Elvis' record in her room so much, that they wore out the record. That's the impact he had, and still has. Thank you, Mom, for sharing that wonderful memory and introducing me to such great music!

The man has one of the most diverse ranges as a singer. Most other singers have success in one singing voice. Think of Neil Diamond, Roy Orbison, and even Tom Jones to a degree. Nothing wrong with that at all. I love all their music. As much as he is talked about though, Elvis is still really underrated as a vocalist. BTW, I believe the great Ronnie Milsap is playing piano on this song. You might want to check out Smokey Mountain Rain by Ronnie.

True, although he is probably the most celebrated performer of all time, people focus too much on the white suits he used to wear in his later years, and in the hairstyle, but forget to actually listen to his singing. Elvis as a singer is massively underrated.

In my opinion, Elvis is the greatest singer ever. The man spanned across many different genres from Rock and Roll to Country, Pop, Gospel, Jazz, you name it, the man could do it all! No other singer has ever spawned as many imitators, and no one can do what he did the way he did it! There are very few singers out there who are so unique that you instantly recognize their voice no matter what song they are singing, but Elvis is one of them. He loved what he did and it showed and was infectious. A true showman!

First of all that damn racist he stole half the songs he was singing the music really comes from black people he stole songs from Little Richard he's also stole songs from Chubby Checker fats domino and there's a lot more hes no damn King of mine maybe to all you white people even Public Enemy said he was really racist and that song he got real famous off of ( you ain't nothing but a hound dog) that song originally came from a black man but it was so racist back then that they didn't want the black man to sing it on stage so the white people music industry tried to bribe the black man and said we would give you a lot of money if you sell that song to Elvis Presley the black man said NO and they still took it from the black men my dad was born 1937 and my dad was telling me this story when I was only 11 years old back in the early 80s so I don't want to hear white people talking about he was the true king when he really wasn't he'll Ray Charles did better than him and he's blind. I almost forgot there is a song that Elvis Presley took from a country black man is called train train train I know a lot of white people think that's his song but it's not Elvis Presley really didn't start singing his own original music until the 70s
