I would imagine that even though the boat was moving slowly the total force on a small jagged rock would be able to do some damage. Quick following of orders by the good lady was not you being rude or nasty but the proper response to avert a potential crisis. (I had to get this in before someone complains) 👍

Exactly those rocks are sharp and covered in barnacles They could have done some serious damage to the boat. The winch was pulling us toward the rock with a light wind also pushing us toward the rock. My path was blocked by a pot so it was up to Rebecca to get on the front and slow the boat with the boat hook. In situations like this you have to be loud, clear and quick. Rebecca did exactly what was needed to prevent the boat from taking damage.

Good save there Rebbeca. Those rocks and barnacles tear open anything that bangs into them. Seen other boats with a metal plate or a tyre butterflied to save such issues. Some nice crabs there though👍

You did well to avoid that bone chilling sound of fibreglass on rock.

That was a close call, and why don't you have oars on board just in case the engine fails and you are nea rocks like today? Please both of you stay safe and take care. Wishing you both a Very Happy Christmas, and a Happy New Year from John, Sue & Family.

I do have oars but they are very long and would have taken to long to get out the boat hook was the quickest option. Have a Great Christmas :)

@Trojwaterman, Many thanks for taking the time to reply, and at least you have them to row back to the shore if you ever needed to? Look forward to watching more videos in the future, safe landings.

I second that....Becca's a star for sure. A rare thing is a sea-fair......most can't take the harshness inherent in the game.

Great team work shipmates but if i had heard someone screaming get on the front of the boat and not being able to swim i would have took a run and jump from the front of the boat and clung on to the rock for all i was worth, if the boats going down i am not staying on the bridge, lol only having a joke but i must say it could have been much worse; Just imagine no more videos from your channel i would have to stay in bed longer. all joking apart glad you are both safe and well.

One of those days when everything aligned. Wind, tide and winch all pulling the boat toward the rocks. Then the engine stalling. Luckily we both reacted quick enough to prevent any damage. :)

The dread threat of 'star crazing' to f/glass hulls was/is not inconsiderable.....what put me off...I was a 'wood' man. My son's pro & is f/glass. Wonderful material 'cept for as said strarry craze. But....WHAT are you doing shootin up tight like it's NOT depths of winter....or am I missing something?

Pots are shielded from the severe tide and swell there It also is usually a great lobster spot. Although not so much this year.
