This was my playground for over 40 years staying at Ullapool and Achnahaird. Now 80 with spinal problems, I can no longer climb. Videos like yours bring such happy memories. Strangely, although I have climbed Cul Beag many times, have never done it from the east. Thank you so much.

My pleasure Michael. I think next time I'll go by the west. It may be a bit steeper but probably less of a trudge. I have a real fondness for this area too and enjoy going to the wee (newish) campsite at Port a' Bhaigh.

Invaluable Cameron as always. Everything you do is inspiring and as we all get older having climbed hills all our lives , the aches , and energy levels faced are best shared. Most opportune that I got to see this before I journey to Assynt again next week with the VW campervan, wildcamp tent and 3 dogs. Im a little intrepid as to what I can physically manage even with poles, when not climbing so often now but your video has reassured me that slow and steady remains a good phylosophy. Two even older but lean back country skiers, american friends, are joining me and I look forward to introducing them to the area. I optomistically hope we can manage a walk in and ascent of Suilven, to savour the wilderness alongside several days in the area. Im keen to traverse Ben More Coigach, before the knees totally pack in but maybe not this time. I too need rest days. Thank you so very much for sharing

Excellent Cameron , nicely done as usual . I think there are very few of us who have not been impacted one way or another over the last couple of years or so and its bound to take some time to get back to some sort of " normal " .. Personally i think reviewing gear thats of interest to like minded people is the way to go , and i am always on the look out for stuff that helps or adds to the outdoor experience , all the best .

Cameron, in my seventies now and had a lifetime of enjoyment in the outdoors. Like you, it’s getting much harder. That is the only peak in the area that I have not climbed so your video was great to see. My legs give me problems now so I have taken to doing a bit on the water as well as more gentle walks. Keep on doing videos please, I for one enjoy them very much.

Lucky you all our family holidays were taken in that part of the world. Our friends family farmed great swathes of that area so when it was wet we always had a dry byre for a picnic. The only thing although it looks idyllic the sea is freezing and to this day I brace myself as I enter the sea but in Kos last year I need not have worried as I have had colder Baths, like the time I played hockey for my school at Fort Augustus Abbey in a snow storm the baths were not much warmer afterwards that is a time I should have braced.

Great video again. 👍 In two weeks time I’m up there ( not in my motorhome but car ) to start my hill / mountain walking hobby. 👍. I’m a big fat lump with knackered knees so you’d probably still beat me up to the top even stopping to do your filming! 😂. The main difference though is that I’ll be camping at / near the tops overnight so I can take all day getting up there! Cheers.

Its good to get all aspects of what happens in your adventures. It helps when you advertise the ups and downs of issues you come across with things like your campervan, sleeping bag, tent, stove, clothing etc. Makes for a more informative vlog along with all your info on the routes you take. Keep up the good work

Thanks for a great video Cameron we are not getting any younger and after lay offs it takes longer to get our fitness back. As for your reviews I personally like whatever you put out and appreciate an honest opinion as it can sometimes be rather hit or miss when buying a product from just advertments. 😂

Hello. That was great to see . I thought that was an excellent walk. Is it the best time to visit that area? I also wondered what you said about an illness you had that stopped you walking hills? I only ask, as I have something similar and still don't really know why I can't do hills anymore? Was yours a muscular problem? Hope you don't mind me asking. Thank you.

No, I had a condition called Hallux Rigidus or arthrtitis in the big toe joint. The joint had degraded and was giving me a lot of pain so I had the joint surgically fused. Now I can walk again. Cul Bear can be enjoyed all year round but springtime is probably the most beautiful in this part of western Scotland.

It really is a sad world where people criticize KZbinrs that review products that are linked to the content of their channels. If you were reviewing lets say a cooker hood or the likes I can understand possibly but not the vile abuse that can be dished out by key board warriors. I for one would always take note of someone with your standing that was reviewing an item that you believed in, with your integrity it must be good as I know you would give a fair review. I watched a channel on KZbin earlier and they were reviewing a product from a manufacturer of car detailing products near to me that I had recommended to them. The owner I now class as a good friend and I felt like an expectant Father but it went well so I can relax now and let my friend know with a clear conscience. I for one enjoyed your content on electric bikes and it put it into my head that maybe I could get back into cycling even with a dodgy knee and explore some of the areas you feature on your channel. I had my heart set on a Trek but I think maybe a Scott is the one for me but you sowed the seed so thanks for that. That looks like a particularly stunning part of the world and one that is as yet undiscovered by myself. I frequently drove to Ullapool from both Kintyre my previous role and Aberdeenshire where I grew up after arriving from Nigeria as a 5 year old where my parents were missionary's for the Church of Scotland to my job as a Bank Manager in Stornoway nearly 20 years ago. I thought I had seen a lot of Scotland but on a holiday at Findhorn recently we did the Applecross pass in a Thunderstorm thankfully in a Land Rover as boulders were coming down the road in the water torrents and saw another part of the stunning country we call home. My cousin who never left Scotland for foreign holidays told me that until he could say hand on heart that he had seen it all what was the point in going elsewhere. To be fair he was well traveled but was taken far too young. He had a point. The sad thing I have found on my travels is sometimes the locals don't appreciate what is on their own doorsteps. I need to stop rambling!! but please continue to do what you do as I for one really appreciate it. Thanks again from an avid subscriber.

There is a big difference between reviewing a product where you give the good and bad points of it and an advertisement that only portrays the product in a positive light. That seems to be lost on those saying don't do reviews. Review away.
