Today I'm going to try painting with wool and needles, aka needle felting. I've been doing this on my channel for 3-4 years now, and it's turned into a really fun series. After much experimentation, I feel like this is the first time I learned different textural techniques and applied it to the art project. I hope you enjoy this ultra satisfying needle felting adventure!

This is so pleasant to watch, we can practically feel the wool in our hands! We love that Mira talked about her affection for where she's from, because it's important for people new to art- especially young people- to know that amazing, skilled, talented artists are everywhere, in every community!

I am usually not a fan of a lot of texture, but I really like this. It feels like rolling hills and different things growing everywhere. Nice job.

The round machine you saw was most likely a drum carder. Dyers will use them when preparing batts to sell. You can get hand carders that work much the same way if you want to play with blending fiber. (Hand carders basically look like big slicker brushes) i love how you did this! Everything came out great. Nicely done as always ma'am!

This is so relatable! As an artist I love to use vibrant, super saturated colors with black, or else pastels with neutrals, but still lots of different colors. But for my home decorating I’m like, “Nope. Dark blue, dark brown, dark grey, off white. That’s it.” That’s what I know and that’s what I stick with. That and birds and trees. That is the entirety of my home decor. But the art is all over the place. 🤣

I also want to say that I love the way you edited this video. I know you posted saying you were trying something a bit different, and I love the overall editing in addition to the little bubble of you narrating what's happening. Idk, it just had an altogether different feel that I thought was really fun and that I can tell took a lot of time and I'm just really impressed by it.

I absolutely love how this turned out. The texture is so interesting! And as someone who grew up in Illinois, I appreciate your love for where you came from. There's something special about the Midwest and how far you can see across the farmland. Or the misty fall mornings. Or looking down the rows of a corn field stretching for miles. I love it, too!

As someone who also is on a mission to use up the art supplies (which piled up from birthdays and holidays) instead of buying new ones, it's really nice to see that mentioned! It's easy to feel guilty about it and thus avoid making art. It's definitely been a journey trying to set that aside and relearn how to have fun and relax while making art again I really like the painting, the texture looks great!

Mira each time you do one of these paintings with wool, it makes me want to buy a kit and get started on my own, but I have so, so many hobbies I love that I can hardly find time for, that I realise I have to resist! Lol God bless you and your family Mira. Have a great rest of your weekend!

First of all BEAUTIFUL, I LOVE ALL THE COLORS, TEXTURES AND CREATIVE USE OF KNOTS AND BRAIDING! 🌞☁️☁️🌵🌾 Have used very similar techniques in the past, I never braided though that is a wonderful idea! Nice to see others used this technique so organically A lot of people that paint with wool have this amazing Hack where they buy second hand sweaters for cheap (I think they have to have some wool content in there yet not 100%sure) , throw it in the washing machine on regular heat (NOT WOOL, good old regular wash, the one that will felt up any sweater) and than cut them up into preferable sizes and shapes. So you end up with good quality felt fabric that you can felt paintings onto. Also, dog brushes, set of 2, can use pretty cheap ones, not too big in size. That would be the home-version of that big tumbler drum that makes huge batches.

Beautiful! It looks like something Van Gogh would have paint-er… felted. Kinda looks like a garden in the fall and the peachy shapes remind me of sheep. And maybe the brown shape is a cow? Very cool!

I've tried needle felting a bit. Coming from a confectioner background, I made 3D flowers, mainly roses, the way you would make them out of marzipan or sugar :D They came out cool but a bit fragile, gave them to friends. Maybe I should make more at some point. The peeling of the piece from the foam looks a lot like grass roots to me! You know, when over a looong time you can end up with a carpet off grass etc on top of a stone slab and you can lift it off in one piece like this :) very satisfying, but a lot dirtier of course.
