A deep dive into the FT10 between Ryan Hart and Rip at DamagermanY. We examine their contrasting playstyles, the adaptations they made throughout the set, the Kazuya vs Law match-up, as well as some fighting game theory to tie it all together. Since this is the first episode from an upcoming Post-Match Analysis series, your feedback would be highly appreciated since we’re still working on the format. Cheers!

I'm surprised you didn't mention RIP not side stepping to Kazuyas weakside through out the FT10. Maybe that wasn't terribly important? Great vid though, love the content I think this will be an interesting series.

I think it would be great to cover past high profile matches to really help others to get into the mindset of pro players & their decision making. Some examples I think lots of people would like to see are: Knee VS JDCR [Rev Major 2017] Qudans VS SAINT [TWT Finals 2017] Noroma VS JDCR [Korea Masters 2017] Kagemaru's comeback at MASTERCUP 2017 lil Majin VS JDCR [EVO 2018] Knee VS Qudans [Tokyo Masters 2018 GF] Rangchu VS Qudans [TWT Finals 2018] AK VS Arslan Ash [Evo Japan 2019] Super Akuoma VS CBM [The Mixup 2019] It would also be interesting to cover really unexpected upsets & how the perceived underdog was able to beat a well established player. Such as how Tanukana beat Saint at Beast Arena Hong Kong, or Speedkicks beating JDCR at SCR, Devilkazuya VS Qudans, Gajda VS Qudans or Nindo VS LowHigh

Reactive keep-out > proactive rushdown Proactive rushdown > predictive baiting Predictive baiting > reactive keep-out This RPS figure might be the most important theory I’ve ever seen relating to fighting games. Stunned it weasled it’s way into a video it wasn’t the center of. Fantastic concept, TBS, and brilliant analysis overall.
@TheDocbach
@TheDocbach 5 жыл бұрын
Its really not that new of a concept. It is basically just the old school boxing triangle theory translated for fighting game players. Even then, it is just a theory and it does not guarantee that you win every situation you encounter just because your play style should hold the advantage.
@Evilj82
@Evilj82 5 жыл бұрын
I think your nouns are correct but your adjectives are wrong and meant to say predictive keepout>pro active rushdown, reactive baiting>predictive keepout, , proactive rushdown> reactive baiting.

I normally find analysis videos to be really boring, but the fact that you showed specific examples of your points by using visuals not only in the set, but with your own recordings made it really entertaining to watch, and each point was very clear. Great video!

RIP even mentioned in the post-match interview that he kinda just winged it. He said he only plays for fun these days & didn't care if he won or lost, but I think its a tad disrespectful to your opponent & to spectators when you agree to a special ft10 exhibition match & everyone wants to see an exciting match where both players are giving their best. Rip can do whatever he wants but I think he should've put in some more effort since the whole point of the grudge match was to pretty much to put on a show for the fans.

This was an incredibly insightful video that explains all the mechanics and neutral/mindgame microsituations I love so much about this game. Your explanations behind Rip and Ryan Hart's adaptations made it crystal clear and I learned a lot more than I when I first watched the set. Thank you for this. Your videos are incredibly high quality and I can't be more appreciative that we have channels like yours in an era where Tekken 7 still doesn't have a fucking tutorial lol. Keep it coming Salami!

The analysis: very well done. The match: poor. RIP just went for the trip (you'll hear that from RIP when listening to his post match interview). He never wanted the match to begin with and as Suiken (one of RIP's friends) said RIP didn't prepare for the match. From this analysis you can see the work Ryan put in. Ryan deserved better from RIP. Also, the FGC deserved better from RIP. Due to Ryan having so many titles under his belt many more people were going to see the match & that could get more people interested in Tekken & the Tekken community. Close hard fought matches would have left viewers with a much better impression than whatever we got out of this matchup.

As someone that was well versed in that London Arcade scene many, many years the mere mention of Martin (Cobra Commander) made me very nostilgic. No amount of online can ever replace what the arcades had. It's only within the last year that my Tekken Playing has come into my own, and I thank that scene and its many fighters (Cobra, Starscream, Dinosaur, Ryan Hart, Darkstep, King jae, Luna, Cem, Inti and more) for showing me the game in its truest form. I got battered for years playing at that level, but it's all worthwhile experience that has made me ultimately better at the game. Anyway, another superb video! Keep up the good work! :)

RIP didnt sidestep at all in this match. Even TMM analysed this match and pointed out RIP's lack of sidestepping.
@Luminethereploid
@Luminethereploid 5 жыл бұрын
That's because he chose to use his magic 4 as a response to Kazuya wavedash mixups.(something TMM did not catch on to) It did work for a while, forced Ryan to change his approach. You can say that it's incredibly risky and yeah, Ryan started baiting whiffs, but sidesteps against s2 Kazuya are just as risky - slightest mistiming in your step and have an EWGF in ur face sir.
@luciferverone
@luciferverone 5 жыл бұрын
@@Luminethereploid Thats literally no excuse. You have to sidestep or duck, and Ryan was not in RIPS face pressuring him. RIP should have sidestepped.
@ThatBlastedSalami
@ThatBlastedSalami 5 жыл бұрын
Ryan mostly played patiently throughout the set, getting most of his damage off punishment. Generally when he went on the offense it was either off of okizeme setups or constantly re-orienting with wavedash. While Rip could definitely have stepped more (and to the left instead of the right), I think his bigger mistake was not using 3+4, 4 effectively. Kazuya's moves generally have horrible recovery on whiff, so had Rip played more aggressively from the start and pressured Ryan into playing keep-out, he could have set up easy whiff-punish opportunities. That might have actually been the biggest factor in this set; Ryan and Rip are both old-school players relying on legacy skill, and while Kazuya has definitely seen some changes over the years, his fundamental gameplan remains basically the same. Law on the other hand is a pretty different character in T7 thanks to how amazing 3+4, 4 is - something that Rip still hasn't fully integrated into his game.
