@glamdring0007 Жыл бұрын
My guess would be about 3 or 4 thousand at the most since he does almost everything himself...it's definitely got a lot of sweat equity in it. The hardest part is finding a boat that isn't rotted out from the salt and sun...neglected fiberglass doesn't hold up well to salt and baking heat year after year. Getting a boat with a good transom and hull like that and a motor that can be saved for 500 is pretty much unheard of.
@richardferrell4362 Жыл бұрын
@glamdring0007 I'd bet my left nut he paid more like $1500 for the boat. Trailer alone is worth $500 let alone the nearly new boat motor with dirty carbs.

Is it cheaper than buying new ? Just curious, I love building things and this may be a future project
@rocinblues2 жыл бұрын
@@JoseRamirez-fi2nf Yes, very much so. When I rebuilt "toys" I did it to enjoy them and save $$. In the case of a used boat I got the motor up and runing and sold it to put the $$ toward a new engine. Used running outbaord engines sell fast. This way I had a very reliable boat, unless you are a master mechanic like , "thatboatguy" you don't want to worry about a boat motor when you are 5 -15 miles from the dock. Outboard motors are "touchy" at best if they ever had major work done to them (complete rebuilds etc); with a used boat you NEVER know about the engine history. I found Yamaha outboards (IMO) engines to be the best - by far, owned several new ones and NEVER had an issue. You'll note there did not seem to be any structural issues with the boat shown, that is key. Also after a few years of use (when you wanted a bigger boat - you always do), you could sell a rehabed boat with that almost new Yamaha engine easily.

I'm on year two of my 14 foot V-hull aluminum boat and it still hasn't been in the water. First year spent trying to find a trailer and then adapting it to this boat once I found one. Also bought a used 25 hp 2 stroke with title (needed in Texas). Had problems with title and mailed it back to seller who promised to fix it. Two years later he still has my title and won't respond to phone calls or voicemails. The second year I replaced the plywood on top of the bench seats, then sealed them and covered them with indoor/outdoor carpet. Bought two very nice seats and made removeable brackets for each seat. New plywood has now warped badly, engine will idle, but dies when throttle opened up. Lights on trailer quit working. Ran new wiring for lights, installed new LED lights and the module for my car to convert taillights for hookup to trailer lights went out. That's on order now. I swear if one more thing goes wrong I will bury it in the backyard and this boat will become a large bird bath or a small frog pond!
