It always hits me hard when old couples who are happy and been together so long and finally getting to enjoy their last years and the saying "growing old together and die together" , but instead ends up brutally murdered.... They were so close. I feel so sorry for them and every old couple who ends up murdered. Old people gives me a very sensitive feeling like they are vulnerable and I want to protect them, just like children almost. I cant imagine how horrible you have to be to be able to stomach hurting old people.

But they did die together. Neither one had to live for years without the other. We all die, and it's usually a mystery and prolonged. I envy them, they died quickly, and brutally means very quickly for old people. Their deaths at that age are only hard on the living. Death is not bad, it gives value to life. They must have realized at some moment they would go together and I can only hope they shared that moment of eternal bliss.

This really is the way. Same reason why kids in the US grow up to be young adults right out of college and expect a job. When you remove competition and give everyone a medal, tell them they're all amazing their whole life, they're not prepared for the real world. And in the worst case scenarios, they do insane things like what Taylor did in this video because they've never felt what striving to better and struggling to get to that point in anything is. You know, I'd argue it's actually worse to constantly tell kids how perfect they are than telling them they're stupid now that I think about it. Not saying either should be done, but you get the point.

This song was a huge hit for Bishop and it propelled singer Mickey Thomas to stardom. I saw Elvin Bishop and his band perform it in '76 at Disney World of all places . The vocals of Thomas outdid Bishop's guitar playing, which was really good. I saw Thomas some years later singing with Grace Slick in the band Starship. Btw I was not a fan of the band and only attended the concert to hear Grace Slick sing Somebody to Love and White Rabbit.

It's abnormal to have nothing special, about you- it typically means a lack of refining personal strengths, or lack of personal cultivation that would give the illusion, of being 'un-special'. Friends and family might be the only people who observe long enough, to notice and if you have none, it would be near impossible. - I do think it's particularly impressive that her daughter got through Marine boot camp, as well. JUST to be pedantic, Elvin BIshop's biggest hit is "Fooled Around and Fell in Love." He also wrote and performed "Mississippi Queen" which is a really rockin' number, and did an epic guitar solo for "Twin Peaks." That's just a miniscule smidgen of his discography btw. Wow this one is insane and one I haven't seen yet! It is crazy to see my hometown of Santa Rosa CA on the map for one of your stories. I would love to see you cover the Ramon Salcido case...he went on a crime spree here in 1989, I think. Murdered his boss, wife, mother in law, his wife's 2 young sisters, and he slit the throats of his 3 very young daughters and left them at the dump...one of them survived after being found 36 hours after the attack. She has written a book about her life and everything she overcame. It is by far the worst thing that's ever happened here. He's been on death row for decades.

Mike, I am reading a book that you might find interesting. It's called "Dawn of Terror: Sixteen Days in January" by Stephen Conner. Not sure if it's released yet, but I was given a copy. It's about a cold case that took place in Aurora Colorado that took about 34 years to solve. In the 16 day period the perpetrator killed 4 people and wounded 4 others, and there may be more. Fascinating story in my opinion and I'd love to see how you would handle it.

I remember when this happened, right in my backyard basically. Elvin Bishop had that big hit but he came from a blues background, he was one of the two original guitarists in the Butterfield Blues Band out of Chicago who some might say introduced blues to a whole generation. Bishop was rhythm guitar to Michael Bloomfield's lead guitar; Bloomfield went on to stellar heights before just deciding the music business sucked and kind of retired. Elvin Bishop evolved more into a "party" band guitarist and he used to appear all over the SF bay area in the seventies. I remember hearing about this tragedy and I wondered what the whole story way.
