Holy shit, I mean, Broken saves the day in the Adversary-Fury route, but the amount of tenacity Stubborn has this time is insane. Instead of just letting her rip him apart, he takes the idea of death itself and uses it against her, unrelenting untill Cold comes to the revelation that lets him finish her. That's insane.
@reubensalter81252 ай бұрын
Cold also saves the day in Adver-Fury. And Contrarian and Stubborn together too. And, in one particular ending the princess also saves it, depending on how we got there. Also it's not just Stubborn who finishes her here, it's all of us, fighting as one, as he puts it in another route anyway.

I just love how Quantum Beak shows Voice of the Cold is most probably the one voice closest to the true nature of the Long Quiet. Stubborn did a good enough job body-hopping us around, but it took Cold, completely detached from the concept of physicality itself, to understand - or rather, to remember - that "nothing" is exactly what the Long Quiet is supposed to be. "All of this is you", after all. And it is this same sudden knowledge of your true nature that allows Tower!Fury to have a much tender passing than Adversary!Fury with the Stubborn + Contrarian combo. In that route, you attack her with the nothing tendrils and she just dies and that's it, most likely because neither Contrarian nor Stubborn really took notice of the truth of the Long Quiet as much as they just took it in stride to win at any costs; they were still ignorant by the end of it all. But in Quantum Beak, she understands you because you understood yourself, which leads her to understand herself better too, even if only for a brief moment, and she's able to offer you a sincere apology free of any bitterness or resentment before being taken away. Bittersweet, in a way, but a fitting end nonetheless.
@reubensalter81252 ай бұрын
I'd say Contrarian did take notice of the fact they were nothing but rolled with it, similar to how he rolls with it during the Stranger ending. Plus in that one she doesn't just die, she accepts it because both of us were reduced to morning but only one of us was able to use it. She failed her own test of emotional endurance while we passed our physical one. And she doesn't care - she has nothing left to prove and nothing left to teach us, and she's proud of us, even if she doesn't show it 😊.

@@reubensalter8125 Don't get me wrong, Contrarian is certainly more insightful than he looks, he understands he's more than just a body, but that scene felt more like him and Stubborn being antagonizing scamps than both of them realizing what was truly going on; someone told him he couldn't do it, so obviously he went there and did it, logic be damned. It was a "despite being nothing, we're still capable of doing this, because fuck it, we ball" moment. This scene with Cold, however, felt much more like an epiphany; Fury called them "nothing", and Cold sensed the truth of it: they were, are, and always will be Nothing, it's merely their nature. It was a "we're capable of doing this EXACTLY because we're Nothing" moment. As for Fury, I can't say I got your reading out of her death scene in the Adversary!Fury branch. During Quantum Beak, the bittersweet tenderness of the moment is clear, with the narration describing our tendrils "piercing her heart and cradling her spirit" and then her sincere apology right after. During Adversary!Fury tho, not only the stab scene occurs quite abruptly (abruptly in her point of view at least, she thought she had finished us), the narration just basically says "The tendrils form the shape of a pristine blade and pierce her heart", she goes "Huh. I felt that. It's... cold", and is taken away. She doesn't look like she's feeling anything like pride for us, she doesn't seem to be feeling much at all, and I think that's basically the point of the scene: you two technically gave each other the "round three" you both wanted, right? You hurt each other as planned and one emerged victorious, right? Then why does it feel like such an empty victory? Because at the end of the day, this violence meant nothing. Neither of you truly learned anything from it, you just perpetuated something meaningless and realized there was nothing fulfilling about it.
@reubensalter81252 ай бұрын
@Hennichell She doesn't need to look like she has pride on order to feel it. Plus it only feels like an empty victory because neither of you had anything to prove at that point. And the violence did mean something - it meant everything. It was just another take on Adversary chapter 2, only instead of a fight it was an endurance test, a physical one for us and an emotional one for her. But it was still a challenge which is exactly what she wanted. And we _did_ learn something from it - we're not our body. And we're not our feelings, we're _us_. Plus this Fury is different from the other ones because she knows exactly what she is and accepts it, and that makes everything all the more easier for her to enjoy. Plus, if we give up, and let her do her thing it's clear that, unlike the other Adver-Fury who's doing it to find us and herself, or Tower-Fury who's trying to re-ascend, this one is doing it to help us - to make us stronger. Because she truly cares about us, which has carried over from round two. Sure the others Furies might care too but this one is brave enough to show it, just in her own twisted sort of way.

@@NahiemTheGamingOne He's still at his worst in Razor but he's awesome in Wild. He does get quite scary on Apotheosis though. Plus since Tower leads to both Apotheosis and Fury, he is retroactively no longer an L, it's just character development. And in this route he's supposed to represent those that turn to a higher power in face of peril. Also don't compare him with Smitten, at least Broken has a more human and realistic understanding of things. Smitten only has that in Thorn.

Honestly, this is the one chapter of the update I am not sure about Personally I think the whole counting your moelcules and "are you still there? Are you still you?" Goes for a bit too long, which yeah that is the point to see how much your character/voices endure but again I feel it drags on for too long And now the coming back to fight her, that is too similar to Razor so feels less special, and I think they even reused the line of Smitten and in this case feels so much less impactful 🙁 So yeah I don't know if it is that much better than when she just blow up your body and just leaves

the are you still there are you still you bit is certainly a bit long but it is unique for this. after you see it once or twice sure you get the feeling to just press Tab and be over with it. i feel like quantum beak is more simpler than razor because stubborn is always taking the lead and it doesn't devolve into a voices fiasco

Personally I'm not partial to quantum break but I quite like the scattering your atoms. It's much better on Adversary branch. They did the Tower branch kinda dirty here. The lead up to quantum break with the vocal tract was golden too lol.
@reubensalter81252 ай бұрын
@@paulomatute4114 If it goes on for too long then that's the whole point. Plus it's fun to see how other voices endure it, and it's even longer during the regular Adversary path. She's trying to find the answer within herself, and she either realises the answer soon or she allows herself to keep going. Plus that scene is supposed to be similar to Razor (even though I prefer Razor) but it showcases Stubborn at his most powerful and even uses the voices in a way that's unique. Plus Cheated has a great one-liner as always. And then there's the fight if you have Contrarian, which couldn't have gone any differently.
@reubensalter81252 ай бұрын
@@Interim-md9eq They didn't do it dirty at all, because both paths are equally great imo. Quantum break is awesome, especially the parallel to "I didn't hear no bell" and the use of one voice per death, and the rewound route is perfect for beginners. Well both are for different reasons but still. Ok yeah it would've been cool if we were somehow able to get Broken/Hunted from Tower, but Stubborn would've probably hijacked us during Quantum Break anyway and the rewound part would need to come up with a reason for Hunted to go, possibly he enjoys himself a bit too much and fades because of it. Regardless the Devs did say that Fury had 7 times more content than before and the most assets in the whole game, but they also said she was also the most difficult to draw because of the use of colour. With all that in mind they did the best they could for both paths, and their best couldn't be any better.
