Really? Remind me again what we said about their _last year's_ draft when they got nothing but upgrades of blockers on offense, even their TE? Same thing. So how good was it if they needed to replace 60% of it _this year?_ They didn't trade ANY of _those_ picks. So this is a repeat of last season's draft, which obviously failed. A+. When their offense stalls because there's still no one to pass to, no one is going to say "but look at how improved that o-line that got that QB room to the playoffs is." They're Right Back where they were last season getting one receiver, having traded another & maybe added .4 to the average of their runs when their run game was already good enough to drag last year's passing game *to the **_playoffs!_* They obviously didn't _need_ to upgrade the o-line.
@Aktzin5 ай бұрын
@@choosecarefully408what are you on about? Literally NONE of the draft picks from last year got replaced by this year’s draft or free agent signings, besides maybe Cory Trice, their 7th round corner who will be returning from injury. Even then, drafting Ryan Watts during the 6th round is simply rounding out the room to provide competition where the only proven starters are Donte Jackson and Joey Porter Jr.. I’ll run through it just in case. The top players the Steelers drafted this year consist of a tackle to play opposite of Broderick Jones (not replace), a center to replace Mason Cole (who was a free agent signing that was constantly getting beaten while also having issues snapping the ball), and a receiver to replace Diontae. Meanwhile, Payton Wilson is going to be playing alongside Patrick Queen and Elandon Roberts, and he could end up playing if injuries happen like they did last season. McCormick? He’s a depth piece that can develop and replace one of the older guys on the line when they’re done, though he could also play if injuries occur. If we pay attention, every single pick from last year’s draft still has a place on the roster. No replacements, they’re building around who they currently have. If you want to argue the Steelers should’ve gone receiver earlier this time? Fine, but considering the team’s history at finding receivers, I’d sooner take a chance on finding a good option later in the draft than pass up on the perfect opportunity to shore up the line, whom we’ve been complaining about for the past two years.

Matt Lee was a “My Guy” and could not be more thrilled he’s a Bengal, let alone as a seventh round pick! His tape at Miami (didn’t watch any from his time at UCF) was just rock solid especially as a pass protector. Rarely loses and when he does it’s not immediately. Can’t believe he fell as far as he did. He definitely could use a year or two to add weight and strength to adjust to NFL d-linemen, but I’d bet on him as a future starting center

Over the past three years I've noticed one thing in particular. Everyone outside of the AFC north has been over inflating the AFC north's value. I guess because of their quarterbacks, but Watson hasn't done anything since he left Houston worthy of mentioning. Burrow has looked luke warm since the Superbowl run, and Lamar is THE definition of a "regular season quarterback." Also, in case you're thinking I'm going to praise Wilson or Fields, think again. Wilson hasn't played at a high level for three consecutive years, and Fields has racked up 10 wins in 3 seasons, lmao. So as someone who's watching this division intimately year in and year out, can we please stop putting this division on a pedestal? It's not the best in football right now. Not even close. The AFC east and NFC north are both better.

I mean I get it, your job to an extent is to go with your gut feeling and have a (hot) take one way or the other in a sense. Having said that, to simultaneously praise on pick and label a CS like Michael Hall who will have to totally revamp his current skill set and technique to reach the heights you envision, but then knock Rosengarten when your only real criticism is that he needs to add strength (which is easily attainable) does not compute for me.

@@skane260 I disagree. I acknowledged that this is speculative in nature. I.E. for the less inclined "it is not a given". He says Hall has incredible potential without any cognitive way of to varify that other than instinct alone. Nothing Hall has done to this point suggests that he will be more in the future. Rosengarten is 21 years old and been raised in systems that don't necessarily value strength. Ed McCaffrey's Valor High School which copied Shanahan, or UW's high passing volume quick release program. Rosengarten, who has unique athletic upside and an incredibly quick first step could easily go from a 20 rep 225lb press guy to a 26 or 27 rep guy in a matter of months. He's been training with Joe Stanley since the season ended. He's going to be awesome and no amount of speculative BS from uniformed individuals will change my mind. The thing with Mims is that he has all the fundamentals of being an OT down, just is inexperienced. So training him isn't like the training of any of the previous OTs, where flaws had to be corrected. In this case, it is simply give him tape of what to watch for and give him more reps. I am enjoying the video. That said, it annoys me a little how many S rankings there are. S rankings only go to guys in teh first 3 rounds. Each team seems to have 1 so there will be 30 to 40 total. There are only 100 picks in the first three rounds. If 30 out of 100 of them are S, it is kind of meaningless. If S means stamp your foot, you are constantly stamping your foot. It feels a little amateurish--where everything is the greatest thing ever.

@@TC-wg1gx It does, but I feel like he is giving a smaller percentage of them that designation (I could be wrong). The problem with his S designation is he failed to define it. He says it could mean steal, or S tier, or somebody he is stomping his foot for (a pick he may think he is not appreciated enough). Because there is no definition it doesn't mean as much as to somewhere between 30 to 40% of the first 100 picks are getting that designation and they are not getting the designation for the same reasons.
