I was into Color Me Badd when 'Unleash the Beast' came out but they leaned way into that power ballad stuff. Basically became Barry Manilow with wicked guitar solos.

I was in The Freddy club, probably signed up from that same ad. I got a storyboard of the head in tv scene from 3, a button, some postcards and that's all I ever got. Must've went defunct after my 1st care pak.

@@shanester1832 That's badbutt. Freddy Kruger is my favorite movie monster of the 80s/early 90s era. Freddy's revenge is the best, in my opinion.

@tperson8347 My earliest record player memories were from Elvira. I was mesmerized by the low voice dude. So deep. That and a Conway Twitty/ Tweety bird Christmas album I just looked up.
@tperson83474 күн бұрын
@shanester1832 Conway Twitty is good stuff. I'm NOT one for Christmas music, but if you ever get the chance, please DO check out The Oakridge Boys Christmas album if you haven't already. My dad had that and played it on X-Mas morning. :) My sister now has a copy of that record in her record collection. :)

If I was growing up in that era, I’d definitely join the WWF, Superman, Marvel and Pac-Man fan clubs. Also, there’s no shame in liking a little bit of country music like Hank Jr., Waylon, Charlie Daniels, and Keith Whitley as well as liking all of the rock and hair metal bands, grew up on all of that kind of music.
@tperson83474 күн бұрын
I agree on that. I like classic country, not the new stuff. Early to mid 90s country is as far as I go, but liked "Riding with Private Malone" from the early 2000s.

I for sure, remember joining the Lucasfilm Fan Club. I still have the membership card, 8" × 10"s, Bantha Tracks newsletters and whatever else came with the membership. I bought and still have the exclusive Luke Skywalker Bespin jacket and Han Solo vest that were sold exclusively to members. I also joined the G.I. Joe Fan Club in the '80s. I may have joined the "Mega Force" Fan Club or it may have been a fever dream.

I remember I was in the madonna fan club I got a autograph and a Madonna magazine where you had information on other fans from all over the world this was before the World Wide Web and every issue had a exclusive letter from madonna her self to all of us along with a catalog of madonna merchandise and you got madonna money dollars bills with Madonna pictures on it that you can use for madonna merchandise plus you could get concert tickets a week before everybody else because as a member it felt like Madonna like you best so you had perks no one else had, I actually renewed my membership then she’s on tour for access to great tickets before anyone else the World Wide Web kinda killed the fan club but at the time it was fun getting mail from the fan club and I had one of those fan club cards that i used to show people and keep in my wallet like it was my ID before I was old enough to get a state ID I remember thinking having that card made me feel like I was the shit lol a real confidence booster in my younger years, that’s funny that was all it took to make me feel good at that time.

Good video, Junkman! I was with the official Star Wars one. Got an Empire Strikes Back promotional brochure with a Vader sealing piece. Just flashed on an idea, if you haven't already done it. Do you remember all the living things you used to he able to get from comic books in the 70s? Ants, Sea Monkeys, and I remember Crazy Crabs, where they would send you hermit crabs in the mail. The ads for it are on Google. In the 60s you could get small dogs and monkeys.

The reality of kids fan clubs. The official card would come, the kid would put their name on it. Then when the child was lost, an adult or police officer could see their name on the fan club card. This is a way to trick the kid into carrying an Id card.
