百獣王ゴライオン (King of the Beasts: GoLion) is what the King of the Animals is a bootleg of. It was later imported to the US as Voltron, as others have already pointed out. Prior to Voltron, though, the toy had been imported into the US as a Shogun Warrior and as part of Godaikin.

The Las Vegas Dealers were dolls, the Ideal Super Heroes were dolls, and I remember the Goddess line and those are also dolls. The King of Animals is a complete knock off Voltron. Robert definitely walked lightly in his loafers. Robert was also a doll. Fighting Yanks has a lot in it, at least 8 adventure sets.

Someone probably already said it but The King of Animals is a Voltron knock off... its a version where all the Lions that combine to make up Voltron are permanently in their body part state and not "transformable" to be the individual Lions..... so its an awful and doubly misleading bootleg because you think you are getting something that can change into something else but doesn't. It would be like getting a red and blue truck called "Prime" that doesn't turn into a robot.... so would be a very very disappointing gift item. Designed to fool the gift giver into buying it.

Crappy toylines can be spotted easily just by the packaging..... dead giveaways.... Blank back of the card, weak ass blisters that make it look like every toy in the line was sat on before being put on the shelf/peg. Starwars and Masters of the Universe both stole the show because of how great the packages looked....Starwars with their photos from the actual movie and Masters of the Universe with their insanely fantastic paintings and even the art from the comics that the figures came with....they were mostly covered by the figure so it kind of teased you to get the figure because more would be revealed once you got it out of the package.

@That Junkman ''King of the Animals'' that's (Beast King GoLion (百獣王ゴライオン, Hyaku Jūō Goraion, The King of Hundred Beasts GoLion). Known here in the U.S as ''Voltron". What's really interesting about ''Mego's Fighting Yank'' is that in the early 1970s Hasbro filed suit against Mego for copyright infringement. On the grounds of their (G.I. Joe body style). Apparently when Mego had contacted their Hong Kong manufacturers about producing a inexpensive alternative for Hasbro's ''G.I Joe'' line. The plant took an existing (G.I. Joe body) and reproduced it with a cheaper plastic and a new head. And speaking of (G.I. Joe knock offs). I recently found out that towards the end of the original ''G. I. Joe line''...Hasbro had even went so far as to knock itself off in 1975. When they launched ''The Defenders''. Unfortunately (The Defenders) were more off a sad footnote in the history of G.I. Joe. The Defender's outfits and other accessories were recycled G.I Joe pieces. Oddly enough ''The Defenders'' did have a cool Tank and Army Jeep. Hard to say as to whether or not this was a wise move on Hasbro's behalf ? They couldn't have been too proud of the line because they declined to put the (Hasbro name & logo on the packaging).

The King of Aminals is actually Voltron Defenders of the Universe. Voltron came from Japan in the mid 80s and was English dubbed TV series. There was the Voltron the 5 Loins and Voltron the Cars. The picture you brought is obviously stolen from the original Voltron the loins.
