The Philippines is one blessed country with the climate and soil ideal for propagation and now full production of all four types of coffee beans: Arabica, Robusta, Excelsa, & Liberica. Our Kapeng Barako (strong and fragrant) is an endemic strain of the Liberica, the rarest of the coffee types.

So true Reny. I have a good collection of heirloom Ethiopian landrace arabica varieties and some rare canephoras, but I can't find any source for Lyberica and Excelsa seeds to be shipped fresh dried in parchment as "samples" to Florida where I can bring them down to South America. There is Lyberica in Guayana, but no way to get seed from there.

Me too, really appreciate Michael’s eye. Sometimes I would like more time on certain details but the vlogs flow nicely & I always enjoy them, so I can’t criticize the editing. A beloved mentor used to always teach his own book of rules to us & one of top 3 was “the devil is in the details” . I think maybe the Staff Sergeant didn’t reply with which season is most harvesting/labor, coz they have the multiple species & may be constantly harvesting? Maybe even in rainy season that’s harvest for some crop? I heard the owner say they plan to teach what trees to plant together….I gotta remind myself hectars size; I think I heard Sergeant say he tends 10 hectars total divided into 3 stations. That sounds to me like a hard working retirement! But yes it does keep one young & fit if you love it. I saw a structure / house? in the vlog beginning, does SS live there I wonder….Go Philippines, I hope they’re coffee production flourishes thruout the nation & becomes even more world renonwned.

Michael if you or Bia sees this late comment no need to reply, but truly your Taglish is advancing! I noticed on the chocolate reaction vlog which I watched same day as this older vlog which I’m rewatching. Staff S speaks Tagalog (coz I can’t understand any other dialect) & I noted he slipped into Taglish quite a bit & you both together did great. You understood him & he seems so lovely, I was following totally but some parts were lotsa Tagalog & you Michael hung right in there. Impressed coz your speaking accent started far below B’s level, but now she better watch out. Your comprehension I think is taking hold, & ur pronunciation is also improving. That wud be funny if you & B’s momma ended up speaking Tagalog b4 B. (Teasing you B!). Language learning is difficult. Akalo ko (I think?).

Great video. First I've seen of your channel. I've been searching for ages for a source of Lyberica or Excelsa coffee seeds. I'm growing cacao and coffee along with exotic fruits in South America. I have a drop box for shipping in Florida. Any connections or opportunities for finding a small amount of Lyberica coffee seed ("Kopi Barako") would be hugely appreciated. Also looking for varieties Jember/ S-795 which are arabica/Lyberica hybrids.

On my 1,000sq.meter lot, I have coconut trees, Jackfruit trees, Papaya, Guyabanna trees, Banana trees, Coffe trees, and Cacao trees. I keep saying I'm going to be the Coffee Baron and Chocoltate King of the Philippines. I have one cacao tree that is producing fruits, and several Coffee trees tht are producing coffee. I did a video of how to make chocolate, and we did make some. My other cacao trees are still too young, but they should be mature enough to start producing some soon. Yes, I'll soon be known as Barry the Coffee Dude.

@@BiancaBeyond ehhhhhhh any ammount of insecticide is bad....... not a good practice in any form.....i was hoping to get some good inspiration from his farm but that little bit on insecticide just spoiled my interest...our ancestors never used insecticide..... just these farmers now are using it...sad really. But great video mate. Thanks
