It feels like John Elway sold the Broncos soul to win super bowl 50. After that, its been down hill ever since.

I was just thinking the same. This organization has been obsessed with Elway. The Broncos need to build a team first. O line, 2 good WRs, then draft a QB that can throw a football. Defense is important, but I feel most teams that do badly have no offensive firepower

It was Joe Ellis. He ruined the Broncos. If it were up to Elway, the Broncos would have the staff that’s in San Francisco right now. Joe Ellis blocked that move because of a personal vendetta against Mike Shanahan.

The NFL will never learn. There's a draft pick's raw abilities and then the need to DEVELOP the player. This happens at pretty much every position except the hardest and most important one. Many HoF QBs had awful starts to their careers, but teams used to understand that it takes time to build the rest of the team around the QB. This "sink or swim" system just destroys the potential in young talent and keeps the nediocre teams spinning their wheels for years. Green Bay has sat two first round QBs for years and it seems to work.

I think the problem is building a team around a young QB instead of building a team for a young QB. Kind of hard to develop if the O-line sucks & there aren't solid targets to throw to, or lack of a running game. It's far easier to ruin a young QB than to develop him. Roethlisberger had a successful rookie season, & career, because he was the last link the team needed at that time.

It's funny....the entire league looks worse without Tom Brady. I swear...watching QBs starting for teams, week after week, who find it difficult to throw to players in the clear in centre field is so frustrating. Watching Brady hit up receivers for a generation and move the chains all the way down the field on most possessions was a joy. Something I absolutely loved watching and now miss. Brutal efficiency and with that efficiency....winning seasons year after year. Brady being out of the NFL leaves only one QB whom I believe can be relied upon to control their teams offense efficiently and that's Patrick Mahomes. I hoped Trevor Lawrence would step up but he's stalled. Justin Herbert has regressed and his team refuses to recruit a reliable O line. QBs nowadays seem to just be improvising on almost every passing play or experimenting with their running game. It seems most teams now waste every first possession on crappy run attempts for almost no gain. Wasteful and boring. Oh well...the 'modern NFL'. ENTERTAINMENT NOT SPORT.

So in his 4th year, he must produce some result, which he will have no chance if they don't have at least top 10 QB or top 10 team. That means they need to find new C.J Stroud or be new Steelers. Chances for that are real low. So he and Broncos will suck again. I feel your pain Perna, I too was a fan of a team in QB purgatory, infact the majority of my teams franchise history has been during QB purgatory, and massages. However we were saved by a bad S2 score and a game we were supposed to lose allowing us to draft the Lisan Al Gaib last year. I’m sure you guys will be fine.

I think Penix is being vastly underrated. This is coming from a Wolverines fan. All this talk that he's not even top four after playing in the national championship game... I hope he's able to come in with a chip on his shoulder and prove everyone wrong on which ever team he ends up on.

I think hes at the very least the number 2 qb this year. Injury history is the only reason he is not a top 3 pick this year. If he didn't have a crazy long injury history he might even be better than Williams.

He’s had a lot of surgeries, is wildly inaccurate beyond 11 yds, his receivers made him look good. Watched all his snaps from the stands at UW. I don’t even know who to compare him to at this point.

If I were a Broncos fan, I would be queasy about them moving up for one of these guys like McCarthy, just a few months ago there’s no way we’d be talking about him going in the first round let alone teams trading up for him. If anything, I think the Broncos should snag a quality offense or defensive lineman take their lumps next year and be in better position for the 2025 draft

one of my favorite anecdotes about pro athletes is after a doctor's appointment, crossing the street past Sam Darnold on Figueroa and 30th, giving him a good luck in the draft next month, and watching him go to his favorite food joint, called EL GUERO. @tacobell3938 ай бұрын
Honestly, if it doesn't fall their way the Broncos should just accumulate draft capital, either for later in the draft or for next year when you might be able to get their premier guy. They are more than one player away from being contenders. Better to get a QB on an established roster than to throw him to the wolves. Don't let other teams' desperation dictate your own desperation 😅.

Broncos I believe have options at QB draft, but they really, really have to research. I'm going to say Bears Williams, Commanders Maye, Patriots Daniels, Giants Penix, Vikings Nix, and Broncos land McCarthy all in the first. Seems like all these teams are desperate so I can see this outcome. Titans possibly could go QB, but I believe they'll ride out Levis. Broncos seem destined for McCarthy, but I can also see Payton doing some crazy crap and trading up for say Bo Nix.

What if the Steelers run a 2-QB system? Neither Fields nor Wilson have been outstanding on their own recently, but they both have attributes that are starter-quality. Last year's XFL Houston Roughnecks were a great example of this, with Brandon Silvers throwing and Cole McDonald running and it was difficult for defenses to have an answer to both even when they knew it was coming.
