You know how all our guys have shared the leads?? Well, guess who shines in this one?? Mr. Adam Rupp! Between his outstanding beatboxing and drums right out of the gate, he's got multiple solos on "no-monica" (and apparently electric guitar!) that'll blow your mind! 🤯 The pace of this song will leave you gasping for air. John Denver gets tagged as a country artist these days, but in his prime he was more on the folk/pop/soft rock spectrum. But his songs have been covered by singers of all genres. He was a multi-faceted artist too - he acted, and had several TV appearances. Loved his work with the Muppets, too.

John Denver's version is obviously the classic. Chance's version with Peter Hollens is lovely and has a modern feel. But Home Free's version is still my family's favorite--hands down! Besides the unbelievable harmonies, getting to hear Adam Rupp's sweet tenor actually singing is such a great treat ❤️🎼🥰🎶❤️

Nick, glad you finally got to see & hear this one. The story I heard was they sat on this arrangement and piqued it for nearly 6 years until they recorded it. They felt that their sound with Chance (and not Chris) was best for this one, and I think they were right, It was one of only three covers on the Dive Bar Saints album, which was released in Sept 2019, just 6 months before the 1st Covid lockdown. By the way keep good thoughts for Chance who is stuck in Winnepeg, Manitoba because of testing positive for covid, and so far has only shown mild symptoms and is being taken care of very well.

Our boys had been asked many times to do this song but it is such a well known and well loved song, they held off doing it until they figured out an arrangement that was perfect. And they did it justice! Other than John Denver's original, this is my favorite version. ( Not kidding about the song being well loved...you can hear it being sung by crowds at soccer matches, which so cool to hear!)

The best thing about this song for them in particular is that every single part is in their individual sweet spots. The song just lives in the most comfortable range for each of them and you cannot get better than that for a group like them. They can’t go wrong. (Also Chance just released a song on his channel with Fox and Hound. Please watch even if just for yourself).

John Denver's song is a really faster tempo and sounds very country. Home Free slowed it down and added some soul into it and I like their version of the song better showing their harmonies and everything, you can feel the longing for going home to W. Virginia. I'm not from there but they got me wanting to go home to W. Virginia.😄

John Denver has been dead a while now, but he was part of my childhood. I'm 50 this year, and have super fond memories of him. He was truly a sweet, kind-hearted man. Well I’m gonna be 60 in March, but if you are around in the mid 70s even the early 70s John Denver was everywhere. He’s like a square that became popular. The later in the 80s, he came out with some great stuff.

FYI... John Denver really wasn't a country artist per se. Yes, he sang a few country songs but he was more of a folk/pop singer. He got his start with the New Christy Minstrels way back in the day - way back. John was enormously popular in the mid to late 60s and had his own tv show. His biggest song was Rocky Mountain High - which was a huge hit. RIP John Denver

Don't know if you are holding off on doing Christmas songs until closer to Christmas but I donated for Home Free - Joy to the World (Hosanna Concert) before last Christmas and have reminded you several times (per your request) and still nothing. I think you are going to love it as Gospel Rob takes the lead on this unique and funky arrangement of a Christmas classic.
