They didnt open the gate for girl groups at all. At those moments there were still pretty succesfull and known girl groups with also a bunch of different concepts like 2ne1,miss a with bad girl good girl,or even wonder girls. They were def the first girl group to be really huge and get sales comparable to boy groups and a lot of awards. They were the standard but they didnt open the gate or paved the way for noone. actually girls generation is a song from a senior male singer, not SES. and yeah, it is like a tradition of sm new girlgroups to cover songs from their seniors. they debuted when they were about 16-18 in 2007, the group with the strongest vocal line i guess. we have taeyeon, jessica, seohyun, tiffany, and sunny. also dance line who are vocally so good. usually sm girlgroups are vocal based group.

How’d we get through all of Into The New World and no one told him the impact of that song. It’s literally an anthem for change and empowerment. it’s regarded as a protest song towards a “better world” and has been used in multiple human rights protest around the world not just Korea. It was used in womens’ march in new york, lgbtq+ rights protest in multiple countries like korea, thailand, philippines etc, it’s been used for MeToo movement and antigovernment protest. not only is its social impact huge but it’s pretty much a must for Kpop trainees/rookies to perform due to its demanding vocals and dancing.

Appreciate the reaction. It rekindled my Sone (SNSD/Girls Generation fan) heart. It feels nostalgic as an international fan. KZbin was basically a start up business that time so Kpop MV's were not available in accessible platforms. I had to scour the internet and watch official mv's in fansites. Social media was not even prevalent that time, but they still managed to gather international fans mostly by word from existing fans.

I really like a bunch of Girl's Generation songs with such dynamic, emotional resonant vocals and fabulous performances especially Dear Mom, Oh!, Gee, Genie, Show!, Show!, Show!, Boys & Girls, Day by Day, Hoot, Lion Heart, My oh My, Baby Maybe, XYZ, Talk Talk, Beep Beep, Love and Girls, Flyers, Galaxy Supernova, Mr. Taxi, Holler and a number of others. In terms of other second generation groups, I recommend doing one on T-ARA and APink which are also amazing groups.
