@@Sorted906 Tyson's prime was too short to prove anything of the sort. 4 years max and it ended by 1990. In comparison, Lewis remained in his prime for over 10 years. That's consistency. A prime Lewis outjabs prime Tyson - he's just too big and too much of a out and out tactical boxer with a huge ring IQ to be troubled by Tyson. It'd be like the David Tua fight - Tyson wins the opening 3 rounds then gasses and gets frustrated and pummelled by jabs. Lewis isn't any of the low rated brawlers or old legends that Tyson fought in the 80s to get KO'd in those opening rounds.

Mercer is one tough dude. He shows he could hang with all the best but often faded late in fights after starting very well. We saw all the same signs in this one. He did not show finishing touches to take the belt. Lennox weathered the storms and controlled the fight from the middle rounds then on. I scored it an even match due to Mercers great effort & Lewis showing championship poise and guts to defend his belt.

This was the fight that proved Lennox was the real McCoy. They purposely tried to sabotage him by giving him small ring with an elite murderous inside puncher. Lewis hung in there and proved he had the metal to beat anybody in history that night. Even when everybody slated him, hated him, called him chinny, that he was nothing compared to Tyson or Bowe, he showed he had the grit to slug it out with a guy like Mercer. And then he went on to beat them all. Never let them put you down! Never give up!

Look at how poor Tyson looked against Bruno in their first bout. Zero head movement and throwing wild punches. 90’s Tyson would have given them all a fight, but 80’s Tyson would’ve been too much for any of them
