I've been waiting to see the 3rd party black magic on this ever since figured out that it actually transforms.

@other shadoruto I know the stigma and **eht ehm** _quality_ surrounding the bay films, but my interest in the Bayformer design philosophy comes from their complexity. It poses a greater challenge to create a transforming toy with accurate detail in both alternate forms, and the difficulty pays off when it is done right. That does mean more time and money goes into them, making them fewer and more expensive, but the satisfaction of a mature enthusiast is met; _hopefully._

That's the way that seems to work best. I just wish that Hasbro/Takara would follow that design formula alot more. That would eliminate alot of kibble. Just look at Evasion mode Prime, and Studio Galvatron.

@@cslance6863 Studio Galvatron doesn't really feel like a good example of how to do it right. His robot mode ends up looking boxy and his limbs seem tacked on. Like a kid who made a cardboard costume.

I have him and he's indeed a work of art! Unique Toys did their magic again! Only flaw is when transforming, some parts like the transparent bits of the truck's headlights tend to pop off easily. but appart that, this figure is pure MADNESS!

Can’t wait to see if this is a review where the person studied the transformation and knows it’s fairly smooth, or pulls a Bobby and ham fists it in the wrong order and complains it’s the toys fault.

I think what really helps this guy is the painting. If it was just a grey mess, idk if I would like it as much, but the painted details are really something to behold. Probably one my fav movie designs even if I didn't actually see this movie

Honestly my only problem with this figure, is not the figure itself, it's the fact that Challenger is now minuscle, Compare him to TLK Megatron, Galvatron, Lockdown and Hot Rod, it was already undersized but now it's just too much

I think most tf fans feel like the story in the movie and the character designs were meant to look like g1 but as toyguy said g1 and the movies are different and people need to separate the two and enjoy both instead of whining that the bayformers look nothing like g1, basically I'm saying the movies and g1 are supposed to be different

Hay man about the back wheels not touching the ground that used to be my problem too. There is a bend used in the transformation that allows you to bend all 6 back wheels so that they all touch the ground. Also the front grille jutting out there is a way to push it flush. What I do is when going from bot to alt mode I pull the grille out as far as I can before swinging it up to connect with the roof then that's when I push it flat towards the cab.

The movie designs arent bad because they're not g1. They're bad because they're extremely messy, visually unappealing, indistinct, and fundamentally do not work as toys without insane levels of engineering. There are a few exceptions (movie bonecrusher is beautiful) but like... they're just bad character design

It's amazing they managed to do this, but I don't think it's for me. There is a tendency for fan-made toys like this to be a bit over-engineered. This is oddly enough not a case of that given what it has to do, but it still kind of carries that vibe. I'm not a fan of the Studio Series version for looking like a box in robot mode, and the backpack on the AoE version is ridiculous, but at least they're not so intimidatingly complex. It looks amazing though.
