When I get nervous, my upper back gets tense, my fingers get stuck if it's a technically challenging. In the past, when my anxiety was worse I've gotten panic attacks. I love how you play Glazunov by the way😃❤️🎼🎼

my private lesson teacher has recitals every year to show each students improvements over the year. and she always has these performance "classes" where each student plays their piece for the other students without warming up and its really nice to have that to practice performing.

Celeste Meisel we do that as well (family and friends are also invited)! It's really good to prepare for "bigger" performances!

You play the Glazunov beautifully! I went back to the Elegie earlier this year, a years after the last time I'd played it, and realized how much harder it is than I thought the first time around. It's easy to play all the notes, but incredibly difficult to play the music.

I have memory slips, so I just calculate by memorizing the fingerings and sometimes I go into a zone where I am just focusing on the music.

Talking about memory slips... Some time ago I participated in a competition and I was playing Bach and it was going pretty good when literally in the last measure I messed up... and started playing about from the middle of the piece. And I had to play two more pieces after that. It was a mess. After all I got a good score and it was really fun because I played like I have got nothing to lose. 😅

Hey TVK! Great vlog! Do you have any tips for big auditions? I have my first one on Saturday and I'm super anxious... I keep getting caught up in the details and intonation and stuff and I feel like I lose the big picture, the actual MUSIC. It's frustrating.

Hey ThatViolaKid im new to your channel and i was wondering if u can make a video about playing music how its written? I am doing an audition for honor band in a couple of months and i wanted to know if it is bad to not play everything exactly how it is written. Thank You

Sky X Gamer Well sorry for the late response hopefully you got in! But most of the time if they give you a set piece to play, you should play it like it is written. A lot of judges/music teachers may take it in the way that you didn’t know how to play that measure/part, so you were improvising. So I would suggest that you don’t try to alter the piece! But if they gave you the freedom to chose what you want to audition with, you can get as creative as you want!

1:50 Teaching violin? So you also play violin? There's of course nothing wrong with that, but I've never seen or heard anything about you playing violin. Or unless, one who can play viola can play violin or vice versa? They both share their G3 D4 and A4 tunings, but the viola has a C3 string while the violin has E5. Then there's the fact that the viola has greater spaces between its notes on the fingerboard, making it seem as though it may not be true? I personally think it isn't, but if anyone knows about this, confirmation would be great! 😅🎼🎻

GuuzakaTube it's pretty common for shoulder instrument teachers* to teach for both violin and viola, sometimes even cellos and basses but that is definitely less common. This is despite whatever instrument the teacher performs with or is the best at (and it is definitely possible for them to play both). What you said about the space between finger positions changing, that matters as much as switching between a big viola and a small viola. It takes adjustments (just some warm-ups), but as long as you have a fairly good ear it's perfectly easy.

Right, so this means that mastering viola or violin means that you can play one or the other, with the only notable difference being their C or E string. Thanks for the response!🎻
