The tldr summary of Count of Monte Cristo is that a man was framed for a crime he didn't commit right when he was about to move up in the world. While in prison, he meets a Priest who teaches him everything and the man becomes not only more intelligent, but figured out why and who framed him. After 10 years of the two trying to escape the prison via a tunnel they were making to leave, it collapses on the Priest, where he does shortly later. However before he dies, he gives the man the map to where the treasure of Monte Cristo is buried. The Priest dies, and is put into a body bag, but before he's thrown into the ocean, the man switches places and is later picked up by Sinbad the Pirate. He goes on a few adventures with them for a few years and eventually saves up enough to go on his own, finding the island. Once finding the treasure, he remakes himself as the elusive Count of the Island of Monte Cristo, using his skills, intelligence, and money to get vengeance on those who wronged him. Guess that wasn't very tldr, but yeah, there you go
