What a beautiful tune! We hear a delicious combination of full throated organ bass pipes and the brassy brilliance of the trumpet. Wonderful performance! As a horn player, I listen intently and am mesmerized by this music. Holst was a genius.

Jupiter as the inspiration is so fitting for this. Oh devourer of comets, planets, and moons, how great are you and how you insignificant are we, we praise you, our orange King, above all gods before and after, and can offer you this most fitting hymn. May you smite all deniers and pull them into your devastating embrace, protecting this insignificant system from threats within and beyond.

We made the arrangement and much of it was improvised by the organist - the ending for sure - and the beginning pedal C drone. I think the rest of the arrangement was from what we found on IMSLP. My best.

I believe this is an E Flat Trumpet very low for a piccplo I could be wrong

Where did Piccolo come in to this? There is no mention of that instrument anywhere on this page. The title simply says the name of the song. The picture of the album cover clearly shows Trumpet & Organ. The description also says Trumpet & Organ.

There are piccolo trumpets and often this kind of repertoire when done in a solo context like this (with accompaniment from organ or piano or orchestra) is on piccolo trumpet.

Also, if you look carefully at the trumpet he's holding, you'll note it has four valves, a feature of piccolo horns, instead of the usual three.
