@@TildenCats As one should. But lots of people of all income levels lack the self-control and discipline to avoid debt. $1k for a quality guitar wouldn't make a lot of players blink. Heck, for professional orchestral instruments, it's tens of thousands. And you can get so much back from playing it, let alone gigging or recording. $1k for a toy Death Star that's going to sit on a shelf feels like a rather questionable extravagance, but then again, everyone has their own values and priorities!

Every time Lego includes a sticker sheet, it's like a slap in the face after all the money you've just spent. You have brands like Cobi, Funwhole, Pantasy, etc. making better sets cheaper with all prints, which leads one to ask why on earth are stickers acceptable in Lego sets?

Would you rather have printed control panels that are identical in every set or unique sticker control panels? I started thinking about this after watching your 4+ Mando Starfighter review; realizing we’ve had the exact same print for years now, when we used to get new designs in every set. Personally I’d prefer everything to be printed, but the likely hood that happens is slim, so if I’m already buying a set where everything is stickered I wouldn’t mind 1 or 2 more adding more personality to the build.

The funny thing is it's so easy to make all (different) prints. Funwhole and Pantasy make these beautiful sets that include tons of printed parts and no stickers, and they often sell for 1/3 to 1/2 what a Lego set costs. The fact that Lego includes stickers at all, let alone whole sheets of them, is ridiculous.

Here is what I think would be cool.... instead of a big ball, make it a wall mounted domed art piece. It could have some open panels for mini fig scale scenes, I would also add a perching point on the upper right side for a mini star destroyer. As well as formations of mini tie fighters and x wings that can be placed anywhere to make a dynamic scene. That way it would tie in with the mini starships by being even larger as a back drop for role play gaming even! Also being wall mounted would make it more displayable for more people.

AskMandR: i recently got the pod race diorama from target with the sale. When I opened it up the sticker sheet was all crumpled up and the stickers won't stay on the lego pieces. The printed lego star wars logo on the tile was also scratched and doesn't look good anymore. I guess these are the ups and downs of each way to add the details and wanted to know your thoughts. something i’ve said before is that $1,000 isn’t that surprising. many many hobbies have times that are WAY more. i think it’s all relative. i’m in no way saying that it is not expensive because it DEFINITELY is. But i think it can be worth it just depending on how it looks and, id argue just as important, how fun it is to build. half of the lego experience is the building experience
