I am so happy to find yiyr channel! You are an awesome teacher and player. One question. U say you have reinforced nails. Do U wear acrylics or.do use glue? Thanks
@ChrisBurtonJacome Жыл бұрын
Thx so much! I use Gel. NOT gel nail polish but the actual gel product that you have to use a UV lamp to harden. Acrylic is too brittle and has to be applied thicker so, imo, you don't get as natural a tone.

thanks for this video bro! what strings do you aim for with the thumb when going up and down? are you strumming all 6 strings ?
@ChrisBurtonJacome Жыл бұрын
I'm glad you found this helpful! So, IMO I wouldn't stress so much about how many strings you hit with the strum until you GET it. Once you GET it then you will start being able to moderate and adjust your technique to hit as many strings as the chord requires. That being said...hit at least 3-4 strings with each stroke of the abanico strum. When I started I was trying to hit all 6 all the time. I think it held me back from focusing on the mechanics of the technique. Let me know what you think and feel free to contact me with any questions at all. Best to you, Chris

@@ChrisBurtonJacome thanks for the reply, and yes i think im focusing to much on trying to hit all 6 strings, im sure your advise will help me get this technique down , thank you sir
@ChrisBurtonJacome Жыл бұрын
@@stevenespinoza7735 , 4-5 strings is plenty to work on the movement mechanics. Spend your time there and when you get it, you will be able to work on hitting 1 string, 6 strings, whatever you want. All the best to you, Chris

I have a question. I master the speed for a few rounds, but then for some reason I lose control over it and it becomes sloppy. How can I practice this?
@ChrisBurtonJacome3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ruben, What a GREAT but SUPER-CHALLENGING question to answer without some visual or auditory reference. First, CONGRATULATIONS on building up the speed! Awesome! My question for you is simple...What are your BPM's (Beats Per Minute) looking like? So, let's say you're going for 8 passes through the abanico without "falling out". How fast can you get the BPM so you can do 2 Abanicos within 1 beat (sextuplets) for 4 beats straight before the tempo becomes too fast? How fast is your current FAST BPM where you can do a few before "falling out" and getting sloppy? Once you are able to measure this stuff it becomes much easier to find AND SEE solutions. Hope this helps and I'll look forward to hearing from you, Ruben. Chris B. Jácome Flamenco Guitarist | Composer | Teacher chrisburtonjacome.com/lessons-training

@@ChrisBurtonJacome I am sorry for the late response. But I am not sure how to set up the metrome. I use one on my phone and it has multiple variations. For example: I can use 1/4 2/4 3/4 4/4 and so one. Which one should I pick? Greetings.
@ChrisBurtonJacome3 жыл бұрын
@@rubenkoster1015 , no worries! Happy NEW YEAR! Alright, so, don't let that METER selector stop you from using the metronome. Is there a way to JUST have it click with NO ACCENT? That's going to be easiest. However, say that's not possible...then choose 4/4 and follow the directions in my last message... Find the BPM where you can do 2 Abanicos EVENLY/SMOOTHLY within 1 beat/1 click (sextuplets) for 4 beats straight without "falling out"/messing up. I'll look forward to hearing from you, Ruben. I still don’t know which Albanico is the best for me, so I play three different
@ChrisBurtonJacome3 жыл бұрын
Grzegorz, Play all 3! That's the way to go! I use 3 different varieties myself depending on the situation/application. Fantastic that you have those options!!! Best, Chris B. Jácome Flamenco Guitarist | Composer | Teacher chrisburtonjacome.com/lessons-training

@@ChrisBurtonJacome Thanks, I didn't expect such answer. My friend told to not to play this one: Thumb Up, Middle Down, Index Down. So I have started to practise at the moment, as he suggested to me: Thumb Up, Ring Down, Index Down.
@ChrisBurtonJacome3 жыл бұрын
@@GrzegorzWronkowski , if that version (Thumb up, Middle Down, Index Down) works for you, then I would definitely keep it. Rasgueado ends up being a very personalized technique due to every player's unique anatomy and artistry. There are the most common ways (T, I, A for instance) but that doesn't mean you can't do it another way. As long as it's achieving the sound you desire, you're good! Best, Chris B. absolutely counterlogic impossible for me thanks anyway...

because all one follows is thumb - 2 moves and 1 for index finger. BUT index finger must also move and that's where one gts lost in translation! it doesnt dissapear but because it is masked it creates chaos and makes it impossible!

Thanks for tuning in! Yes, this is SUPER-Challenging and that's why it's one of the most sought-after flamenco guitar techniques. Yes, it's difficult but I guarantee you can do it! If I can do it, anyone can! It took me nearly 5 months of dedicated practice to get the abanico technique. SERIOUS practice. I've never had a student take longer than it took me to get the technique. Stick with it! You can do it! Best, Chris
