Been riding casually for about 4 years as a main source of transportation (150 - 220cc) and I’m not gonna be one of those “bikes saved my life” guys. But as someone with ADHD and depression, I can say it’s brought that child like joy back into my life. I’m not gonna say I’m fixed an perfect now but that’s something that’s hard to get back and maintain especially if you’ve seen or been through shit that’s made you learn to be numb. I’m still not a social guy, I don’t like going to clubs anymore, but riding has given me a reason to leave the house again and that’s huge. At least for me.

I’ve only been riding about 3 years but in that time I learned that friends come and go a lot, usually from their own irresponsibilities, but the biggest issue with riding is fighting the urge to become reckless. It’s a sport where 80%+ of accidents are rider caused and avoidable. You have to respect the machine, or it will possibly kill you. Also for all you new guys, do NOT slack on maintenance. Bikes are expensive but ignoring stuff like chains, tires, fluids, can have catastrophic consequences.

@KingD-kh1qj Yes, I've had several accidents. A couple when just starting out on road bikes. The typical "go where you look" type thing which were quick lessons to learn. Then, a couple that were caused by others, such as left turn in front of me. I have also taken several riding courses along the way, including some track lessons while visiting the states. I'll probably ride until I can't. I also.have another riding course lined up later this year. There is always more to learn and it's a good brush up on skills that can get rusty. Cheers!

@KingD-kh1qj Hi Mate. I've never had a serious injury other than to my pride as I've always dressed for the slide, even on hot days. I also had to learn how to rebuild my bikes as there is usually some damage sustained. Still wouldn't trade it though. As I got older, I've also changed my riding. I'm now on a Ducati Monster which suits me down to the ground.

I almost got a bike, I was set up to take the classes and had my bike picked out. The only thing that stopped me was my son. He’s only 18 months and I couldn’t imagine him growing up the way I did if I passed while riding one. A coworker of mine lost his son to a motorcycle crash and that sealed it for me. When it hits that close to home it really makes you think.

I have been riding motorcycles 52 years. You make a great point. Quit riding when it is no longer fun riding. I'm still having fun. I don't know what the future holds. I can't imagine ever hopping on my bike and not having fun. I guess it's possible. I'm guessing when I am no longer phyically able to get on the bike, is when I quit. Only time will tell. Thanks for sharing.

Don't let fear keep you from what you enjoy. I've seen a lot of brutal motorcycle accidents in person. I've seen a helmet that the head never left. These are things that can happen. Even still, I don't see the reason in letting fear control you.

Since 2005. I took a break for a few years from 17-20’ . I tried going with a Road king. That lasted about 5 minutes and it only motivated me to get back in the sport bike world. So I blew some coin on a 20’ R1 and I haven’t regretted it for a second . It’s easier for me to afford the mods now than when I was in my early 20’s riding 600’s .

Yo adobo, i’m 21, i’ve been watching your videos for a year now and after a tough and abusive relationship, I needed to find something to get me out there. I figured getting a motorcycle right away wasn’t the best idea so I did a lot of research and slowly decided to buy a Kawasaki Ninja 400 (got discontinued so i’m actually buying a 500). Thank you for giving me the motivation to do so, I love the jokes you make and the advice you give and how you don’t sugarcoat or hide things and say things for what they are. I hope to have a fun time on my ninja and hope to meet some awesome people along the way.

Biggest reason is family. You wanna make sure you’re around long enough to raise and help your kid along as well as take care of the older folks in your family. I couldnt imagine my grandparents having to bury me😢

That's not a reason to stop. It's just a reason to learn how to ride properly. Basic training and the "oh boo hoo ride like everyone else wants to kill you" mentality doesn't work. Gotta have actual skill.

@@libingmeme8474 yeah no shit, but there are situations where you’re just unlucky and no amount of skill can save you. Proper riding technique isnt gonna do shit to save you from a retard going around a blind corner in your lane. Sometimes you have no time to react.

Been riding since I was 7yrs old (dirt bike) Now I’m on my 15 motorcycle (HP4) working on bike number 16 (2023 BMW S1000RR) the key to longevity is ride less. As long as you have access to it, and it’s not who’s the fastest but who can make it through the season without crashing or losing your life.

I’m not having fun on mine anymore I have a sportster 1200 and I ride that thing so hard I have scraps on my pipes from leaning so hard, I made the mistake of getting a Harley because all my friends where and we had this stupid motorcycle club dream, now I’m financially unstable and really want a sport bike I don’t want to stop riding but sometimes I feel I ride my Harley way to hard for what it’s made for and we all know where that could lead. Anyway that’s my little vent session keep up the dope content!!

I just completed a 2400 mile bike ride to Key West from Montgomery, AL. One of my bucket list items to ride to Key West. I’ve been riding since 2011 and even took a break from 2017 to 2020 after I lost some friends in rapid succession. I have no intentions of stopping because riding brings me peace. I’m definitely more mindful when I ride but I would say the #1 thing that would make me stop riding is if I became scared of riding. You take a risk when you get out of bed each morning but if you’re scared of riding, scared of traffic on a motorcycle or scared of what may happen while riding,…stop riding.
