"Baby Reindeer" wasn't an easy watch, but it was certainly an important one. Kudos to Richard Gadd for not only reliving his harrowing stalking experience, but reenacting his brutal sexual assault. I hope that there were therapists on that set, and that he didn't experience any PTSD symptoms. Jessica Gunning was also extremely chilling as Martha.

Joining the Interview with the Vampire brigade. Impeccably acted, and extraordinarily written. Everyone behind it seems to have a unified vision of the story they want to tell, and have thought very deeply on what happens when someone becomes immortal, and when they’re made immortal involuntarily. What happens if you have decades to hold a grudge, but there’s only a handful of people in the world who you can talk to? It’s also a great look at the nature of memory, and the stories people tell to make sense of the insensible. The show also makes you hate the Game of Thrones showrunners for having Jacob Anderson and *wasting* him.

Probably the 100th person to mention this by now, but STRONGLY recommend *interview with the vampire*! It's SO good; it's such a beautifully crafted story with insane acting and world building. If you're like me and haven't read the books, it's so thrilling to experience the twists and heartbreaks. It's a show that takes its audience seriously and forces you to pay attention to details without spoon feeding information just like Dark and Arcane. Despite being about vampires on the surface, it's really a show about relationships and how they change over time and how deeply toxic they can be. The show also is a masterclass on showing the effects of an unreliable narrator right from the outset.

It's based on a book with a similar name, which in turn is based on true events? (Question mark because the people the characters are based on claim that certain things didn't happen or at the very least deny involvement). It's a nine episode series and one of the standout hits for me personally!

The only issue I have with the western animation renaissance is that children's cartoons (which I'd argue had its own renaissance in the past decade) is being left behind, mainly because the big producers don't want to risk making controversial kid's shows in this political climate, and hence they don't end up saying anything.

Shōgun is a historical novel, and the creators of the show have plenty of information about the real story of Tokugawa Ieyasu, who became the de facto ruler of Japan and was given the title of shōgun. It saddens me a bit that people are not subscribing to Apple TV+, because its whole catalog is amazingly good. There are a few movies and shows that are just good, but most of them are great. Thank you again for doing the hard work. Happy New Year! The Penguin episode 4 was the very first episode I remember that made me almost sick. It was such a hard watch but such a masterpiece. This show deserves all the awards

If Phoebe gets to be called "genius" for what she achieved, then we need another word for real geniuses.

Kleo is so good! I'm pretty glad you put it on your list this year since not a lot of people seem to know it. Also thanks for the list, there are defenetly some shows on here that I need to watch. I appreciate these type of videos every year and I've found some gems thanks to you

Thank you for talking about Pantheon. I was one of the 6 people that got to watch it before its netflix release it is criminally underrated. I found it back in January, my personal favorite show find this year.

Cien años de soledad (100 years of solitude) was also great in my opinion. I only discovered the show a couple of days ago cause somehow I missed its promo entirely (even though I adore Garcia Marquez). It is a Spanish show but with good English subtitles. It was produced by Columbians, played by Columbian actors and filmed in Columbia (which I love and I reckon the author would have loved as well). I think it captured very well the guttural passion of the original story. I heartily recommend it.

I totally agree with you. I also mentioned it in my comment. If you like fantastic realism, I suggest that you also watch Como Agua para Chocolate in Max. I’m not certain yet if the show is as good as the movie, but it’s worth watching.

"Phoebe Waller Bridge" and "Genius" being in the same sentence is quite the surefire method for making me bleed from my earlobes. That aside, I did watch Pantheon back when it initially came out and had no idea there was a second season, yay.

Naaaaah, the 90’s X-men cartoon still holds up. I never watched it as a kid and just now binged it so believe there was no nostalgia bias from me

Hi Friendly Space Ninja. I played this video thanks to the thumbnail and was happy that Fallout and Arcane were in the list of best shows of 2024 in your eyes. But the minute you mentioned Sweetpea, I punched the air in excitement. I am convinced that I am the number one fan of Sweetpea in the whole world. To the point where I feel like a maniac recommending this show to every living soul I find. It's also the first time I have seen Ella Purnell in literally anything. And man, the minute episode 1 ended I knew two things. This show was gonna rock and I had to binge this show in a day, which was easy given its 6 episodes only. Until Arcane, which also has Ella Purnell, Sweetpea was the only show aside from X-Men 97 which kept me on a chokehold from start to finish. And between Arcane, Fallout and Sweetpea, like you mentioned, Ella Purnell has been on a hot streak. To use an F1 analogy, She's been showing Max Verstappen levels of consistency with her projects and thanks to being in awe of her range, making me feel sad, terrified, cheerful and excited about the badassery of her characters, I have now become the biggest cheerleader of Ella Purnell. Thanks to the experience of Sweetpea, I got to check out three of her short films, namely Candy, Right Place Wrong Tim with Asa Butterfield and Junk Male, which she directed. I also checked out her movie Wildlike, a roadtrip movie with Bruce Greenwood. After hyping up Sweetpea and Ella Purnell to a massive degree with my father, he eventually relented and watched it and to my surprise, he enjoyed it and was impressed with her too and asked if there would be Season 2, I happily said yes and I celebrated it like a birthday. With the year coming to an end, I will always be thankful that 2024 introduced me to Ella Purnell and her many talents, properly.

Where can I watch Sweetpea? I haven’t seen it being promoted on any of the stream services I have.
@amanshukla612212 сағат бұрын
@TheCatWitch63 Depends on which country you are. I am from India and it wasn't promoted here either. But I got lucky thanks to an Insta edit for Sweetpea, which began with Ella Purnell was wet, soaked in blood and screaming to the mirror. Then I found out it was in an OTT Platform named JioCinema, which is the home to Sky TV shows in India now and binged it in a day.

I LOVED My Lady Jane. It's one of the few adaptations that I felt was superior to the book and I was so excited and pleased with it, recommended it everywhere, spent weeks wondering if season 2 will follow up the cliffhanger or if they will jump straight to doing My Plain Jane instead.....and then CANCELLED! I'm so devastated.

Would just like to point out that the Mr and Mrs Smith with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is not the original, the original was made over eighty years ago by Alfred Hitchcock.
