Kids today really won’t understand just how big of a deal Eminem was back then. I remember The Marshall Mathers LP was so controversial that they were playing anti homophobic commercials during the Grammys, because he was performing😂😂😂 I’m not laughing because I think homophobia is funny I’m laughing because I remember how hilarious the commercials were. They were literally MTV news specials about how problematic Eminem’s music was. And all that did was make la 12 year old me want to listen to the album. Prior to that I only knew this singles. But after hearing that album my jaw literally dropped💀💀💀because I couldn’t believe he was saying the things that he said on that album. Songs like “Kim”, Criminal, Marshall Mathers, Remember Me…hell the whole album was absolutely INSANE!!!😂😂😂 even now as a grown man I can’t believe Interscope records actually let that album get released. Tipper gore (because of course it was), founded the PMRC after seeing here young daughter dance to princes song “darling Nikki”, which was very sexual and explicit for the time. The PMRC also gave us the iconic trial that had twisted sister, among others, defending free speech in music and calling out the hypocrisy of the PMRC, and the nation at large
