Really great video Ramses. Loving the slowing down of the gameplay to highlight interactions! Especially liked the section on weaknesses/middling options. Provides a lot more to think about in matchup dynamics!

Some more questions: 1. What common themes do you see in how Zackray plays his characters? 2. And what makes Shuton your favorite Japanese player?

I disagree with the idea that Yoshi struggles to open up shield. Yoshidora did do an excellent job mixing up feinting and finding good spaced positions to harass the shield, but also Yoshi as a character has excellent shield damage and crossup potential. If Yoshi is hitting your shield, you are _generally_ in a losing position. Not to mention shield itself is extremely limiting in it's own right (which you talked about) I super love how you talked about the different styles of capturing information. Such good and rare content. I think maybe the Ken vs Zackray set would have been a good time to re-highlight the movement gathering but idk I'm just a youtube chump :D Pit's options from ledge are so annoying zzz Thanks for putting out such good vids

Definitely could've revisited info gathering for Ken vs Zackray but brevity is a priority for these 45 min videos. As for Yoshi - I think he has the tools, but they are tools. How powerful are Yoshis anti shield tools compared to Steve or Aegis? Sometimes a weakness is a lack of strength 😊
@SoIaries Жыл бұрын
@@RamsesEsports Tbh I think they are better than Aegis shield-opening tools in terms of both safety and reward :X Not steve tho steve is broken Granted I am yoshi-pilled and I believe he's top tier

Hi, Yoshi main here. Imo the thing that Ramses said about Yoshi struggling against shield are true mostly because of Yoshi’s properties as a character. Yoshi in neutral is somewhat limited because he HAS to rely on empty movements, shield and aerial hitboxes with a lot of repositioning (and precision too since we are talking about top level). The problem here is that his ground game is mid, with small hitboxes so he’s forced to bait you using retreating aerial approaches or overshooting with grabs or hitboxes. What limits him (it?) is his full hop and double jump, that paired with his floatiness leaves him with less mixups. Don’t get me wrong his defense is very good, but the problem is that he’s not oppressive enough and rely more on you being in error than him being “imposing” in neutral. He somewhat lacks a solid button in mid range that can compensate for his weird fh mixups. I feel that the character is good and strong and has almost everything he can ask for but not top tier atm.

Tltr: Yoshi struggles against shield because he doesn’t have too many mixups against shield that leave him both dangerous while being safe, and every single one of them except for dtilt comes basically from him being in the air

Great analysis! Regarding whiffpunish with Yoshi: dash attack is really trash, dashing dtilt and jabs are probably the answer to whiffpunish on the ground imo, they also set ups early tech chase situation. Dtilt is also safe on shield if spaced, I would use it more, definitely. I usually use more pivot grabs especially if they try to wall me out on place. Anyway I will give dash attack a try, I noticed that Yoshidora usually use dsmash and sh nair like they were dashattacks. Also great job pointing out yoshi dj in neutral + no fastfall mixups as his biggest weakness, I think exactly the same. Ps: Pivot ftilt could be useful too but has a very weird spacing due to Yoshi’s running animation properties so I would not recommend it unfortunately 😢

How do you think Zackray would've done against acola? Do you see Zackray's Pit doing better in future times or do you think Zackray had the element of surprise? And any other character you feel Zackray should go for?
@RamsesEsports Жыл бұрын
I think Zackray would've had a good shot at beating him. He had the best offensive pressure out of anyone in the top8, imo. I think the Pit will do worse from here BUTTTT that depends on the Japanese's willingness to integrate Pit counterplay into their playstyles. Plus - Zackray is always switching, lol. Zackray Sora already won an event but I think it fits him very well. Maybe a return to Corrin..?

4:55 Question. Does this mean that I should play with more committal styles in Bo3 and more coverage based styles in Bo5 since committal based information gathering falters as sets drag on, but in a Bo3 those sets have a smaller time limit?
@RamsesEsports Жыл бұрын
It depends a lot on your character and their character as well as the dynamics between the characters, so there's no set in stone answer here, unfortunately! I will say that I think that committal information gathering is generally stronger in Bo3 yes!
