Lol, loving Murphy isn't as controversial as you might think! He became quite a fan favorite over the years, I'm really happy to see how much you already love him by the end of season 2; no spoilers, but his character... phenomenal!! (Btw, the doctor's name is Eric Jackson)

@@egraham3000 That's exciting to hear considering how his character started at the beginning of the show. And I got stick for hating Charlotte as she let Murphy almost get hanged for her crime, so I've been defending him for a while😂 😂

@@SunnydaleSurvivor It's really rare finding people who defend him in s1, so it's nice to see you do that so early on. Alot of fans didn't start to like him until s2, but what happened to him in s1 when he was hung for Charlotte's crime made me sick too; honestly, I blamed Bellamy as much as Charlotte. Being hung and then banished.... it sickens me even today. I personally feel like Murphy has one of the top best, if not the best, character developments in the show and it's so fun to watch. My personal love for him grew every season, I will always defend him too!

Totally agreed. He was a douche at first, but one of my pet hates in life is people being blamed for something they haven't done - and even worse when the person who did it knowingly lets other people take the blame. So yeah, the Charlotte situation infuriated me too hahaha

Fun! I really like your thought process for choosing which characters you like - a lot of people forget the aspect of the show where the audience is encouraged to feel empathy for the struggles for each of these characters. Sure, "there are no good guys" is a statement that speaks towards the moral relativity that the show is going for, but it can also be interpreted as an understanding that no single person (especially the leaders in this show) is going to be definitively good or bad. Just doing the best they can. I would have put Clarke at the top of my list personally. Not necessarily because of every single decision, but kind of like what you said with Murphy, I really enjoy her story and love it when she's on my screen. She's definitely my favorite. Monty's always on the top of my list too! He's so understanding and 'kind' in the truest sense of the word. I also love that you love Murphy. His story is awesome and very unique. And of course I love Octavia and Bellamy and they would have been on the top of my list too. EDIT: Also, don't be too concerned if people disagree with you in the comments. That's bound to happen with this show. The 100 leaves a lot to be interpreted by the viewer, and can tend to stoke fires among it's audience (the showrunner Jason Rothenburg has been known to prefer intentionally enraging viewers), so there's quite a bit of arguing among the fan-base based on these different interpretations. There's no right answer for who to like or what decision to agree with or whatever so just enjoy arguing you own point, I guess. As long as everybody's civil that's where all the fun is. I'll look forward to defending Clarke in the future lol.

Haha I love that edit at the end. I've already been prewarned about the comments from Season 3 onwards about how passionate fans can be....to put it politely haha. Plus I tend to have controversial opines to a lot of things so I can imagine that will continue 😂😂 I love that you have Clarke at the top of your list though because not many people seem to defend her, so its nice to see a different option for sure!

@@SunnydaleSurvivor Clarke has her fans. I would say that Reddit is very pro-Clarke, and it's split everywhere else. I've noticed youtube commenters are a bit more harsh towards Clarke than say twitter, but of course if you go watch a Clarke edit or a reaction of an episode that is Clarke focused then the comments are more positive. She's a very divisive character, probably by design. Like I've said, the showrunner prides himself on making viewers "frustrated" and getting them into heated debates about the show. The people who love her and the people who hate her simply see different things when they watch the same show. It's sort of cool that way. I would say, being one of her defenders, that the people who love Clarke tend to idolize her emotional fortitude, pragmatisism, and selflessness. "I bear it so they don't have to" is a line that often gets brought up in conversations about Clarke because it perfectly captures what Clarke is about: she does the things that might seem horrible or make her a 'bad person' so that the other people in her life won't have to. The world of the 100 isn't one of a superhero movie's - what's "right" in the sense of a deontological approach (i.e. never crossing a moral 'line' like lying or murder) isn't necessarily what's right for the people around you (especially when it comes to their survival). Sacrifice in this show is not exclusive to giving up one's wants or even their life, it also includes giving up one's deontological morality. I think a lot of people who like Clarke realize (or at least adopt) this perspective. After all that's what Clarke did in 2x16. She wanted to be the good guy - she creates a complex plan to rescue her people from Mount Weather and also only kill very few, and tells Dante in the beginning of the episode that "we're the good guys, not you." That changes though when Clarke realizes that she can't save her people without pulling that lever. She has to give up the part of herself that has any claim to being a "good person." And she does it. Clarke sacrifices her own morality in the service of Skaikru's lives. Better yet, they themselves don't have to face the dark side of themselves that might have made the same decision in Mount Weather. (People like Raven and Jasper get to continue on thinking that they're the "good guys.") And that's what we see from Clarke time and time again: she is willing to ruin herself in the aims of allowing other people to not only survive, but also for them to avoid the moral cost of deliverance. She's a fascinating character - the above paragraph I think only scratches the surface. (I can't wait till you get to this one episode later down the line in an unspecified somewhere because it's a true deep dive into Clarke's character and it's sooooo good.) But that's a huge part of why I like her. It's an incredibly unique characterization of selflessness that only get's better over time as the trauma that comes with such selflessness begins to have it's effects. Regardless Clarke always puts others first. That doesn’t mean she always makes the right decisions. Just that she’s one of the best candidates to try to make them.

Definitely agreed with a lot of what you say. Even though Clarke can bug me at times and I don't agree with all of her decisions, I do agree her journey so far has been fascinating to watch.
