Nice video mate, can't wait to see it when its grown in. Are you open to Skuds, Water Louse, and Tubifex worms to get more species in there? Going to be trying them in my new 29 gallon setup to see how they do.

Cheers mate, actually I love the idea of adding some really small animals like skuds (I think this is a freshwater isopod, right?) ➡️ i read that they don’t harm fish, and that they are actually quite good at decomposing old plant leaves and leftover fish food. I thought about getting them from my local river (I have a resurrection jar where I keep a small colony of water animals (worms etc.) - but I am worried about parasites. Tubifex worms are also on my list, but there the same question came up. Also, i am a bit worried that isopods could harm the Amano shrimp / guppy fry.

@@naturalaquariums76 I have the same worries to be honest, there's so much contradictory information out there about them. I'm ordering mine from a pond specialist here in the UK who breed their own so there's no risk of parasites, they are surprisingly cheap too by British Standards.

@@GlassBoxDiariesniiiiice ➡️ I will search for similar options here in Germany. 😊 Father fish recommends to put very small amounts of water / sediment from a resurrection jar into a fish tank, so fish can slowly adapt to / get used to potential parasites.

@@mihaipetre9446 Thanks for clarifying, that does make sense to some extent. However, if i aim for keeping floating plants (duckweed, frogbite,...) it really does not help.

to help you get multiple different species you can get dwarf crayfish, different types of shrimp, neocaridinia and also some of the easy caridinia species that don’t need r.o water, Also multiple different types of snails, scuds , and aquatic isopods will help you 😊
@naturalaquariums766 күн бұрын
I heard many people recommending scuds and aquatic isopods. I absolutely love isopods in general. Their diversity is incredible - I have some of them in my ecosystem bowl/terrarium, while others live in freshwater and some even live in the deep sea as parasites. Crazy animals! However, I've never seen them in pet stores around my area, and I'm a little hesitant to collect them from a local river/pond due to potential parasites. You're the first person to recommend dwarf crayfish! Despite being in the hobby for so many years, I'd never heard of them. I'll definitely do some research on whether they're compatible with a community tank. If everything seems good, I'll definitely get 2-3 of them! Are you experienced with dwarf crayfish? :)
