Just got my new Elite Series 18 seer Variable Unit installed with the S40. I am playing around with the Dehumidifier Control. What gathering is you want it on Max instead of IQ Control. This is because while on Max it is actually gathering data from sensors in your ducts. Versus the IQ mode that seems to be gathering data from the local weather. If the air will feel much colder if it is drier, plus the compressor will not run as much.

I have the S40 at my house, installed 10/17/2023, paid $475 for this thermostat. I've paired this thermostat with both my mobile phone, and my wife's mobile phone too, no issues, it worked just fine for us. My Lennox installer provide "written" documentation that I have a 10 year warranty. Auto-brightness works fine for me. This is much more than a basic thermostat, I've had more than one Honeywell WiFi thermostats in the past, which are very good, this Lennox thermostat is better in my opinion. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Thank you for confirming your pricing. My old iComfort thermostat is out of warranty (only 3 years after purchase). If you haven't used the old iComfort Wifi thermostat, you wouldn't understand the frustration when they break en-mass. Sadly an upgrade from the old iComfort is usually $1000+ job. Hence me here complaining. Other than the cost, the S40 has so far worked great. and I am able to install apps on both mine and my wife's phone no issue. I bought the thermostat from dealer, and have to pay $80 for a 10 year warranty from Lennox directly, otherwise, the warranty stops at 1 year after purchase.

Did you buy it off ebay or Amazon seller? Even on those sites- I haven't seen an S40 stat for less $600. What I am reading is that at a minimum expect to pay in range of $1400-$2000 or so for the unit purchased and installed by Lennox dealer (only way not to void 10 year warranty)

@@kevins1429 You have to pay for extended warranty 5 or 10 years, on Lennox website even if you bought at Lennox dealer and have it installed, otherwise the warranty is only 1 year. I paid about $1200 for thermostat, installation and warranty. If you buy at eBay or non dealer, no warranty

@@kevins1429I bought the S40 and the other Lennox furnace components from a Lennox dealer. So in part, the reason I paid less for my S40, is that I spent a lot on the whole system (furnace, S40, whole-house humidifier, 5" filter). So the dealer discounted each component. Regarding the warranty on the S40 - if you go to Lennox's website it says 10 year warranty for the S40. I seem to recall my dealer/installer telling me you get the 10 year warranty if a Lennox dealer sells and installs the S40 for the customer.

Did you have a dealer install it or did you buy from amazon/ebay and replace the 10F81 yourself? Were there any wiring differences from 10F81 and S40? I read somewhere that there aren't.

Dealer had to install for full warranty coverage, wiring is very different because it uses a lower voltage input, and a wifi-hub needs to be installed as well.

Peak Monitoring is not what you said it was/is.... it's so your power company can control your thermostat during peak hours if need be. That's what I read it anyway.

You are correct, looks like a CA required feature, but here in Florida we already have an external peak monitoring device from FPL.

Well, I was robbed, I was taken for $2400 installed!! the unit is very awkward to use and keeps losing the zoning and turning off the schedule. Stay away from LENNOX!

Oh my gosh, maybe look at calling and complaining and asking for a refund if it's only the thermostat... Or hire a lawyer and demand them to give you a refund!

Well, I was quoted $2700 today. I just can't process paying that much for a thermostat. It is maybe a $800-$1000 stat- Ok. But $1500-1800 more for installation? GTFOOH. It is a direct replacement for my existing failed stat. Installer will probably be in and out within an hour or so.

So, I just had to call a 2nd outfit. Next installer coming tomorrow, hopefully. I will report on what I am quoted.

Does anyone know how to adjust the offset temperature feature in 1 degree increments like it says? I can only do it in 5 degree increments To access the temperature offset setting on a Lennox S40 Smart Thermostat, you can do the following: 1. Go to Menu 2. Select Settings 3. Choose Advanced Settings 4. Select View Service Support Center 5. Choose Equipment Settings 6. Select Thermostat 7. Find HP 8. Use the setting to offset the displayed space temperature by up to +/- 5°F
