After visiting Las Vegas a couple of times I realized the best feature is it's location and proximity to many National Parks that lie within every direction, the best way to visit Las Vegas is to grab a rental car and get out of the city... Within a few hours is Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Death Valley N.P., and many other amazing desert attractions like Lake Powell in southern Utah... So next time you fly to Las Vegas make sure you get a rental car and explore outside the city!

OMG! I did my research but your comment confirms what I thought. I did get a rental haha. So, I'll do that ❤

Yes! And if you don't want to go that far, Valley of Fire (or, even closer, Red Rock Canyon) and Mt. Charleston are practically around the block!

I just did Death Valley, Hoover Dam, Boulder City. I'm planning Zion and Grand Canyon for my next trip. Vegas is closer to Zion than Salt Lake City is.

It is really surprising what one year will do to the depth of water in Lake Mead's reservoir. I know it's telling, but Los Vegas has changed so much since I was last there, 50+ years ago. Time flies, when pursuing other lands. Thank you again! Obrigado novamente.

Great video. I have done Las Vegas, Williams and the Grand Canyon, but with wife and kids we were always in a rush to get to our destination. Upcoming life changes will find me relocating to Kingman, AZ and I am looking forward to having more time to explore these areas and more. I think for anyone traveling the USA this is a great roadtrip to make as there is plenty of nature to see, quirky little shops/restaurants and it gives a good representation of the vastness of the USA.

I have made that trip out of Vegas to the Canyon many times. It’s my favorite vacation spot. I have always taken Route 66 from Kingman to Williams where I stay and use as my base for travel to the Canyon. I have rode that railway to the Canyon several times. Thank you. I love the memories you brought back.

Hey buddy. I am watching this on my TV from my other channel World's Greatest Adventures. I really enjoy your editing. My friends and I went to Vegas in Jan for CES and we did this trip... until being stopped by a blizzard. It was before we were making long form travel videos, and it is what I wish I had made. It's really inspirational to see somebody making content like this. Keep it up. :)

Mention of Kingman is always bittersweet for me. My parents got married there, it was on the way to relatives' place in AZ. They didn't get married where they lived in the SF Bay Area cuz they were a mixed race couple, so the marriage was illegal in CA. Kinda funny when you think of the typical perceptions of CA & AZ today. I need to make a Route 66 trip someday. I've put in more than a few miles over the years, but it was always under time constraints. Thanks for all the good stop-n-see ideas!

This is awesome, a geography lesson with some great views. Thanks. Bring back memories of my humble quest to find the origins of the creek I live next to. This wide creek travels about 11 miles through eastern Pennsylvania and feeds into the Lehigh River Pennsylvania which then the feeds into the great Delaware River which empties into the Atlantic Ocean near Lewes, Delaware and Henlopen State Park. I found my answer, an underground spring about 8.5 miles away. It was fun finding it, a meadow with a small forest next to a state road and a few homes in the countryside.

What a great roadrip! I made a similar trip a few years ago but I didn't have the insight on these great attractions on the way. Looking forward to doing it again. I used to live in Henderson Nevada and drove to the east rim of the Grand Canyon where the Skywalk is located. That is another great, but shorter, road trip through Dolan Springs Arizona and the world's largest Joshua tree Forrest ( more than in Joshua Tree national park). Lots to see on that trip too. Don’t know where to start 😮. My family went 2 summers from Kentucky to California covering nearly all of the West. I remember having breakfast in Flagstaff and next stop the Grand Canyon. I was really little and we were on Route 66 which was just mind blowing. My father was an engineer and we did the tour down to the enormous turbines in the Hoover Dam. Wow. I definitely want to check out all those places and museums in your trip. I have autism and when we got to Las Vegas I was shaking at night from being over stimulated by all the lights and people. My parents wanted to enjoy the night life and I successfully begged them to leave me alone in the hotel room. OMG I was so freaked out. Everything out there is so different. I loved 🥰 all the unique neon etc. along the way. It’s really sad that it’s gone because of a new highway 🛣️. I’m going to save this video and when I make my own extended trip out West I’ll be checking out all of the attractions in it. Thanks 🙏. 👍☮️🌞🩷

hi, I am from the UK, and have family in Alabama. I was thinking of visiting them and then doing a bucket list trip to Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. I have already had some tips, flying into Vegas, driving to Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon...I was hoping to do the visit and the drive in 7 days leave, Just wondering how many days to allocate, the best time of year to go, and how much time in each place? Can you give me some advice please.
@SidetrackAdventures
@SidetrackAdventures Жыл бұрын
Depending how much time you want to spend in Las Vegas, you can easily drive from Vegas to the Hoover Dam, spend a couple of hours there, then drive to the Grand Canyon in one day. If you are planning on doing some hikes in the Grand Canyon, give yourself a few days, but if you are only going for the views you can get to all the major South Rim points in a day easy. I'd recommend the spring or fall just to avoid the heat or possible snow/ice at the Grand Canyon.
@chrisburnham1738
@chrisburnham1738 Жыл бұрын
hi @@SidetrackAdventures thank you for the information. Much appreciated. I guess I was planning to just use Las Vegas as a 'fly in' airport. So one way international flights from the UK, are really expensive, so I was thinking of a return flight from Mobile, or Pensecola, and flying back to there after domestic flights from Mobile to Las Vegas, and then back from Phoenix to Mobile, and then home to the UK. Do you think this is possible? Also I am assuming that 1 way car hire, is a thing, so drive from Vegas to Hoover Dam, to Kingman, stay over, drive to Grand canyon, stop over in Flagstaff or Sedona, and then last stop Phoenix, to get a flight back to Mobile. What do you think?

It's about a 4 hour drive to the South Rim from Las Vegas, so it's going to be rough to drive back and forth in one day. Grand Canyon West is only a couple of hours away so that might work better for you. It's not the National Park but you still get some great views plus there is the skywalk.

@SidetrackAdventures thank you. I was thinking maybe stay a night in a hotel near the south rim and make a 2 day trip of it. I appreciate your reply

@@tanya41277 That's what I'd probably do. Williams isn't far and has quite a few hotels. There are some right outside the park too, and of course a few inside if you can get a reservation.

A day is enough time. It's about a 4 hour drive without stops so you don't need to leave super early.

Wrong direction LV I15 through the Virgin River to St George then Ut 59-Az 389to Fredonia AZ/ Kanab Ut US89A to the north rim or on past Lees Ferry to US 89 to Cameron AZ AZ64 to south rim or alt US89 from Kanab thru Page to Cameron and the s rim. Longer but much more awesome scenery. Canyons you drive thru or cross Mesas you climb descend or just pass by.
