The 12 Ranks & Castes in a Xenomorph HiveWorld

The Queen Mother is the highest rank and most powerful in the Xenomorph world. A Xenomorph Queen builds her nest, known as the Hive or the Nest, from Hive resin, a gelatinous fluid secreted by Drones or Workers. The xenomorph species are challenging to categorise and rank, in contrast to the Predator Yautja. We have created roughly 12 grades or castes in a xenomorph world. Enjoy the video, we hope.

The King Caste was genetically engineered by Ernst Kleist, when it was released into the hive in Aliens: Rogue it destroyed humans and aliens alike until it reached the Queen. They fought and the natural Queen defeated the King alien easily. The Newborn and White King were both also results of human tampering. The Newborn was the result of Ripley's human DNA mingling with the Xenomorph DNA of the Queen. The White King was actually a Hybrid Human, Predator, and Xenomorph created by an AI. So those three, the King, Newborn, and White King, have no place in the hive hierarchy.

I believe the King caste is a final evolution for a Praetorian,maybe evolved if the hive reaches a certain number of praetorian, and now need a second commander to tend to them. This is my theory though, but overall I like the King Xenos, they look awesome.

I don't think that the runner aliens are their own caste but are just drones/warriors that emerged from a four-legged animal. Based on its existence and that of the predalien, there possibly could be an infinite variety of xenomorphs based on what hosts they use.

I big part of what made the first movie great was the mysteriousness of the creature. There is something unsettling about not knowing the answers. The 2nd movie explained things slightly more, but added just as many questions as it answered. Ever since it's been more than three decades of throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks, and making things overly complicated.

Now normally I like hearing about Aliens, but we all know there is nothing nonviolent about this species. The Worker caste, I might concede, is the least violent, but! The Worker caste has to be expected to be able and eager to kill as brutally and horrifically as any drone or warrior.

Meh king isn't real natural xenomorph It was actually introduced in comic and it was a xenomorph experimented to be like a king and was actually a hybrid between human and a xenomorph it was created to rival the queen and control the drones it was stronger than queen but queen was smarter and defeated the king in the end and it was also called rogue since it was killing xenomorphs on sites and will leave humans if they are no threat

The All Mother of Xeno Prime also has Praetorians or Royal Guards that dwarf the average Queen. Also this makes me wonder what caste or role the more rare Xenomorphs would be assigned. As in Xenomorphs like a Croc Xeno and Gorilla Xeno would (IMO) be warriors or Praetorians. Just a thought.

Hmm well on the PredAliens it could be just the unique Special Abilities of the Hybrid Variant. As The PredAlien is a Hybrid Designed to Overpower and In this case Explode its Species by Creating more PredAliens so a population explosion of each PredAlien to create more is something that can make the a Predator population a issues for them all if a Handfull of those Hybrids are out.

Yes, they do. All Xenomorph castes have been known to have their DNA reflex, with exception for the Queens being a pure-breed aliens who ignored their host DNA reflex.

Not sure the need for all these extra "castes". The Xenomorph was a simple being. They worked like a bee hive in almost every way. There is no need for a "praetorian" or even a "king". A king would be pointless in a system like that. A bee hive is about as efficient as a species can be. They really have blown this whole thing way out of proportion rofl.

I don’t think you know how hives work. It’s not the way you were taught in school. Every hive is a war in slow motion. The queen is a slave/ruler. She will be replaced and killed by the hive when she starts to slow down on producing or produces too many sub par eggs. While at the same time every worker bee is trying to lay eggs if the queens pheromones weaken or the hive becomes to large for the queen to spread her pheromones every where. Drones are males that only serve the purpose of breeding stock. These are the only male bees. They don’t fight they don’t work just mate then they are driven from the hive when they have served their purpose. Meanwhile, you have swarm queens, young queens that have one goal of escaping the hive with as many loyal workers she can recruit with her pheromones. Replacement queens are a little different, as soon as they hatch they go on the war path, killing every other queen they can find, their goal is to take over the existing hive. They seek out any other queens in a cell and kill them before they hatch, then they find the living queen if she is still alive and kill her as well. None of the us anything like the way Xenomorphs are ever shown.

Now for worker castes, you have brood tenders, hive guards, gatherers, and scouts. Scouts and gatherers are a little more interchangeable than other castes. But each caste is essentially determined by age. The youngest tend the queen and her brood, the oldest are gatherers and scouts with hive guards generally falling somewhere in the middle. Also workers can’t become queens. They can lay eggs but they can’t make a new queen themselves only clones of themselves essentially.

And the queens eggs are all naturally male, until they are fertilized with male sperm, then they become female workers or if also introduced to royal jelly potentially a queen. And a young bee only gets royal jelly if it was laid into a special queen cell built by the workers.

There's also the fact that while there are some similarities to a hive, and the fact it's literally called a hive, they are almost entirely built for combat. Xenomorphs are killing machines, and not much else. Kill and expand. That's what they do. Plus, I'm pretty sure the king is just a matured praetorian, praetorians designated role is to protect the hive, or more specifically, the queen. From my understanding, they're more combat oriented (and huge), and not tied to some function that a regular bee hive would have. While the drones and warriors are all out on adventures, either kicking ass, or getting their ass kicked, the praetorians would be holding position back at home base, waiting for the enemy to come to them. A vital role, considering you can't just send out ALL your troops, and leave your home base wide open for attack, completely defenseless. The queen can't do it herself. Multiple times on screen in some form, we've witnessed the queen get annihilated by just one or two enemies. When you send out your army, you NEED that royal guard to stay behind and protect you as a last line of defense, if nothing else. TL;DR The xenomorph hive is an army as much as it is a hive. It often doesn't look like it, but they are strategic, and some aliens have to fit those strategic roles.
