I loved Billy's Richie character. I could have listened to him for hours, doing all sorts of mundane tasks like shopping etc. I know the real Richie didn't swear like that, but the satire Richie was the best swearer I've ever heard. A great example is when Eddie McGuire calls Richie up to tell him he's boned and being replaced by Billy Birmingham - Richie's reaction is absolute gold! It's sad knowing Warnie isn't with us anymore, along with Richie, Tony and Max. I loved all those guys.

Legendary Billy Birmingham. Known around the English-speaking cricket world for his legendary impersonations of iconic cricket commentators. What an interview. Get him in the com-box for some of the current 7 team!
@xalstarx10 жыл бұрын
I like how Billy wanted to change the subject after Warne was trying to encourage him to do a new 12th Man impersonating the current cardboard cut-out commentary team Nine has. Just imagine trying to do impressions of dullards like Slater, Healy, Taylor and Brayshaw. That would be a chore of a comedy album to make.

Make no mistake friend,the commentary team at Sky Sports in England is significantly duller than channel 9's current lot.
@BigRamifications7 жыл бұрын
+A.J. Meyer Come come. Dullurds?! Slats is an excitable himbo, Healy is an excitable booze hound, Brayshaw is an excitable hollowman, and Tubby.... Tubby has tard annunciation and dribbles absolute shiat, but I love how he randomly gets pumped up about something, even the quality of the party pies he had during morning break. Now, the teeem at 9 may be a number of things, but dullards they ain't.... Got no problem with the ad hominem +A.J. Meyer, but if you're gonna be sledging a whole bunch of people, ya gotta be accurate with the burn.
@BigRamifications7 жыл бұрын
+Scott Handley I stand corrected.
@L3onOfKings7 жыл бұрын
I don't mind the new crop of commentators, they have grown on me and they have much more confidence than when they first started and it shows in their ability to tell a story or explain tactics. I'll admit they were a bit hard to listen to in their early days. Tubby and Slats have really shown their excitable nature and personality lately which I never expected from them. Although Tubby did fire up for Siddle's hat-trick a few years ago when he was kind of new to the commentary box, which was awesome. Heals is usually very calm and measured, but I still appreciate his input. He's a cricket intellectual. Kevin Pieterson is a bit strange to listen to, I bet 12th Man would have a field day impersonating him. I like him though, he brings some colour to the box. "Brayshaw is an excitable hollowman" that describes him perfectly, but I still like what he brings to the table. Warne and Tubby is like the next Bill and Tony with the whole Melbourne V Sydney banter they provide. I'm yet to come around to Michael Clarke's commentary. He tries his best, he knows what he's talking about, but it comes off a bit... condescending? I dunno, it feels like he's a bit too analytical and doesn't bring much fun to his input. It's a bit too educational for my liking. Give him a couple more year's experience.
