If his parents hadn't been murdered he still would have lost his father. Remember Tony's mom said that she and Howard we're going on one last (very last) vacation together. Howard Stark was dying, most likely of 4th stage Cancer, and this was his last Christmas. At MIT Tony voiced his regrets about losing them, but he still had plenty of "daddy" issues to deal with. Hence his trying to kill Bucky and beating Cap to a bloody pulp.

JT Marvel Think about it he summoned surtur to destroy Asgard which means Thanos can attack nedivillear (probably spelled that wrong) and make the gauntlet because Asgard is destroyed and no longer protecting them. Than he gave Thanos the tesseract to give Thanos a higher chance to win so the heroes could go back in time and he can get another chance. He also is a smart guy so he probably knew it was going to make an alternate timeline.
