Closest I can think to Slitterhead is a Lego Gamecube game called Geist, sees you as a ghost possessing various objects and people for puzzles and combat, though combat is more jank first person shooter than melee

For the last decade-ish here's a few I liked especially the Lovecraftian ones. Dredge Cthulhu The sinking city Soma Sunset overdrive Paradise Lost Dragonball kakarot and xenoverse 2 Fallout 3 and NV Scheming after the apocalypse pt 1 & 2 Remnant from the ashes series The crash and Spyro remasters That's just a few I thought were pretty good and they were a bit hard to put down which is rare for me to get sucked into a game world. Honorable mention the Conan the barbarian 360/PS3 game.
