I just love your channel. I’ve become addicted and can’t get enough! 😂 Please don’t ever stop and thank you for all your time, effort and dedication to your work and for sharing with us all! I grew up about 45 minutes away (south) from Salem, Massachusetts and have been there many times as a child and adult….. Going there on Halloween Night, in my early 20s was a interesting experience in its own! 😊 I’ve always been drawn to these events for some reason and as crazy as it may sound, I feel like maybe in a past life I was apart of it all since I’m a very spiritual and clairvoyant person and have been all my life. I also have a extreme fear of fire (Although I know in these particular cases and part of the world these “Witches” were mostly hanged, not burned). So awful in general! My father and his side of the family immigrated from England and I’m also fascinated with The Tudors and The Stuart’s Reign and history. King James the 6th had a extreme fear of and strongly believed Witchcraft was a a real thing and work of the devil, which I think travelled to Massachusetts and this part of the country, unfortunately with Puritans and their religious beliefs at that time, although many religions in that period and before felt similar.

Emerson Baker's book "A Storm of Witchcraft" gives a very good account of what happened of WHY this all happened.

I like Ms. Norton a lot. I remember reading her book when it came out back in the 90s, I was a kid in high school. One thing I really love about her work as a historian is that she’s probably one of the very few mainstream historians that does not allow her own political views and biases to affect her research, a very rare trait in this age.

Sounds like the researcher has attributed a little wokeness to all this. Basically , you had a siege mentality in Salem resulting from a community traumatized by constant wars in their region.

*i've been accused of being a witch since i was a little girl. born and raised in boston, lifelong new englander. to this very day i still suffer witchcraft (black magic and voodoo). witches are the archenemy of people of faith. my father's side of the family are heavily, heavily endowed with christian attributes (holy name, holy birthdays). satanism and luciferianism and witchcraft are all archenemies of people of faith. black magic is very very real. witchery is very very real. satanism is very very real. it's a war, spiritual war. can't you people open your eyes and see? stop believing in (and worshiping) "star wars" and get right with the truth. plus, gossip is a known evil and if people are gossipers (the opposite of gospel, by the way) they're engaging in and with foul spirits. all simple stuff.*
