Good choices! I tend to use Gadget and Cubasis the most. The moog apps are fantastic. Brambos makes amazing apps that i love to use. Ipad has become quite a beast... no need for analogue synths when the virtual ones sound as good (if not better) and are far easier to link together. Gadget does it best though...

Looking for a daw that supports tempo map, or tempo automation,so can change tempo during song. Also if I could globally change reference pitch to A=444 or something besides 440. Most keyboards can do this with no problem. Is it doable in an app?

Hi man. This is kinda urgent. I have this issue recording vocals into Cubasis 3. I tried different interface and mics. It’s Cubasis. I can hear my voice and a track appears for me to record into but nothing is recorded. I also can’t hear any effects I try to place on my vocal before I record. I pushed the blue button for monitoring on the chan and the mixer chan at the lower page. Still nothing. The backing tracking plays but nothing recorded vocal wise. I managed to do it in FL studio mobile but that’s not ideal for HQ vocals. Any ideas?

I think Gadget is more of a beatmaker than a DAW. The finishing tools aren't that great and you usually have to mix/master in a proper DAW for it to sound professional. That being said, it's fantastic for songwriting and sketching. I export my projects into Ableton when I'm done and then play my songs on hardware via the imported MIDI.

I would like to ask which iPad DAW app will allow you to record using a MIDI keyboard or workstation? Do any of these allow for that? Moving files from one app to another. iOS's filing system is so shitty, that you can't simply save a file in a folder and then navigate to that from another app to pick it up. Apple could make iOS so much better, but seem hell-bent on pissing off people instead.

I hope you're still responding to this video, I really like the time and detail you put in this. Question, I notice many of the apps allow users to purchase more sounds or 'packs', which apps allow you to create your own sound libraries to share/monetize? Such as the case with Splice. Thank you.
@Nu-trix5 жыл бұрын
Hi, from what I understand, none of these apps offer a way for a third party to sell through there app. You still can sell online and people can upload it in the app or ask the company directly. Some of them are really responsive.

makes me want to get an iPad! and install these apps! I just started learning synths, and didn't know all these different kinds. putting them into groups for workflow is pretty neat. how did you get to know so many? thanks for breaking it down for us. so you have all these on your iPad at once? how long have you been doing this? I just started learning about a year ago. It can be a bit overwhelming with so many options, but not quite the sound your looking for at the same time. I see investing hundreds of hours on this.

Are the apps eating up a lot of space is the 256 okay versus the 512?
@Nu-trix6 жыл бұрын
Trade Whales, I use an iPad 12 Pro with 128Gb. I usually do need more space. Most of the apps are running virtual synth, not samples. The only moment I feel I would need more space is when using Auria pro to mix the digital multitracks. It doesn’t happen often but when needed, I would backup old tracks on Google Drive or my computer and free up my iPad internal space. I have never use it, but Auria Pro support also external disk drive connected directly to the iPad. It would fix the space question for Auria pro.
@tradewhales91706 жыл бұрын
Nu-Trix The Synth Guy thanks that was my worry I wanted to try out the IPad platform but wanted to make sure the 256 was decent and if needed can run an external drive/virtual etc.

Nu-Trix The Synth Guy sweet I’ve grown to like it more than Gadget I wish Korg would make gadget AU capable. Drum machines which mostly cannot record ? What, I’m lost already... to name a few off the cuff - iMPC, iMPC 2.0, iMachine, Patterning, Groove-rider, - okay more a GB but still, it’s a drum sequencer at heart, Diode-888, Ruismaker and RuisMaker FM by Brambos, Future Drummer, iSPARK... the list goes on and on - surely drum machines with a sequencer is what you meant, again, that’s almost all of them... Just an observation mate. Otherwise, nice video...

Markotik G I believer he’s referring to a standard audio track record ability. Beat makers usually only record and write midi sequences.

Hi Nu-trix, A lot of apps n plugins. If I'm not using ipad as an major recording device, does a 64gb ipad pro sufficient? I need your expert opinion on this Thanks.
@Nu-trix6 жыл бұрын
It’s a question of how much photos, videos and music you are keeping on it. But yes 64 Gb is enough in my experience.
@antony.emmatty6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for replying. I'll be using the iPad majorly for live gig only. Not planning to put many vids etc. Currently I'm carrying my lap everytime even for a small Gig where I need just 2-3tones without much show. iPad pro will be a good choice right? Bcause I'm running a little tight on the budget and I would like to know whether the 9.7inch normal ipad will be sufficient to serve my above mentioned purpose or not? (Planning to use some app for live gig with my midi keyboard with a good patch for piano/e-piano/Rhodes/strings/pads layered or split ). If a normal ipad is sufficient for this purpose, I can go for that saving 350usd extra for an ipad_pro. Thanks a lot in advance. Expecting your reply on this.
@Nu-trix6 жыл бұрын
Antony Jose Emmatty , if you only want to play live one synth at a time using a MIDI controller, the normal iPad will work. Go for the pro for music production solution like gadget and Beatmaker3. Or if you use a specific synth that requires a lot from the cpu like the Moog Model 15. It still do a lot on my iPhone 6 which has an A8 cpu compare to most 2018 iPad running A10. No need to absolutely have the iPad Pro.

Nu-Trix The Synth Guy wow.. such an immediate reply.. thanks a lot for that.. keep rocking..
@perrypelican94766 жыл бұрын
I agree with you in every way except how you categorize, which is not really important. I do not consider gadget as a DAW at all. I think of a DAW as something that does absolutely everything for recording, mixing, mastering etc. Using Auria as an example, we can do all that. In Auria you can do absolutely everything that you can do wirh gadget, plus a million more things. With auria you can even run any synth in gadget or any other midi capable app. Gadget is much more limited. I really dont care how an app is categorized, only what it does. But if you want an app that does it all, auria is one if them, but gadget is not. A new guy wanting a do it all app will be disappointed with gadget but will not find amything missing in auria. Hecwill not be able to make a completed song in gadget, but easily in auria. A daw should be able to record a band, no way with gadget, but easily in auria. Bottom line is that gadget is incredible but i do not consider it a DAW. Auria is a traditional DAW, typical of the kind of app that the word DAW was created for. Gadget is not. You create and build and finush any song using auria only but with gadget you need other apps to help. Gadget can create tracks, but it does not even use audio units so you are stuck only with the built-in effects which are not enough in most cases.
@ronsolomon14055 жыл бұрын
Do you actually know what's going on musically, or do you just push buttons and play by ear. I don't see how these gadgets actually relate to music in its written form.

Why do all digital synths sound the same? I think the best sounding synth on iPad is the MS 20, it has that nice bottom end. I have digital and analogue synths so I know the difference. I am not an analogue geek but I prefer hardware synths. I think the iPad is a great way to lay down some ideas, great for noodling. I think audiobus is a great app.
@Nu-trix7 жыл бұрын
I think a lot of digital synth use the same generic algorithm. Not all of them, but the models use for virtual analogue are few and if a company is just reusing an existing one without tweeking it ... well it’s sounds the same
