How cool to see you review this watch! I have one, and I have it precisely because I loved the Grand Seiko Godzilla when it came out, notwithstanding that I could never afford to actually purchase it. For those of us that like the original Godzilla, the burgundy version you picked, is it. The size, the spectacular dial ( which I find to be striking and which has generated comments from people I don't even know), the marvelous, soft strap which is an homage strap, too, an outstanding buckle that reflects the angularity of the case, all combined with the bezel done as on the Grand Seiko to create a fantastic homage watch at an insane price. By the way, we owners of multiple Heimdallr watches don't buy them from AliExpress: we get them direct from Heimdallr, sooner and for less money. I have an 8-in wrist, and find this watch to be one that I enjoy a very great deal. It isn't like my other watches, it stands out, it's very easy to read during the day, and it's very comfortable. Heimdallr regulates their NH 35's, and mine's running at about 6 seconds fast on the day... pretty typical for watches from these guys.

Heimdallr direct definitely better than AliExpress, beautiful watch for peanuts. Looks fine on my 7 inch wrist too, similar to the Samurai (size) but with more character.

Excellent, well rounded review. This watch is the perfect size for me at 7.5” wrist, 6’4” body. To commenters saying too big, realize that it isn’t too big for many people. For example, I rarely go for watches under 43mm and consider the submariner too small, but I don’t whine about it. Luckily, there’s something for everyone and let’s keep it that way. Imploring watch makers to only make smaller watches is lame . For all we know, this one is selling like hotcakes, so there’s no justification for saying they’d sell more if it were smaller.

Agreed, this is one of the more interesting watches out there on AliExpress…I was taken in by the value and unique design choice (not theirs, but you know what I mean. Not a tuna, sub ect.) At 40mm I probably would have bought this a while ago That’s where I think AliExpress companies can grow. Fine, make a homage, but improve on it and make it your own. If it’s too big, make it smaller. Too many polished surfaces (especially on a bracelet)…add some brushing. Then it has some stand alone value

Bought one right after seeing a couple reviews. Received in 4 days from Heimdallr store. Watch is beautiful, even my wife likes it. I chose for the size. It is great for me(7.5). I do like the strap, comfy & fits the motif. Amazing watch for the $.

Great video as always Shane. I've looked at this on AliExpress a couple of times... But the size always put me off getting one. I think if they reduced the size a bit, they could sell really well. Like you said, it's always nice to see some different homages.

Good fair video, I have this on a Uncle Seiko razor wire bracelet, it looks fantastic, my wrist is 7", I think it looks and wears okay, could it be smaller, yes, absolutely, it definitely is different, thanks again 👍

I own 3 different models from this company and love them but also found that the holes in the lugs are drilled a little too close to the case are some straps (especially thick zulu nato) simply will not fit through. I remedied this by purchasing curved spring bars from amazon, something I didn't know even existed, and it did the trick.

I don't do automatics but this one is cool. Red dials are thin on the ground. Assuming this is not a daily then it is a good option with its great colour. Jeans, short-sleeve shirt, and this is a great splash of colour to the outfit.

I have 7.25 wrist as well. My Seamaster 300M and Polar Exp II, each with 50mm lug to lug, looks perfect on my wrist. I don't really go past 51mm though, but I think 50mm will probably work for wrists over 7 inches.

Props to Heimdaller for thinking outside the box (in choosing what watch to copy... Ha ha, still it's pretty original thinking compared to a lot of other homage brands.) I really like the case shape. I think the more I get into watches the more I appreciate a unique and we'll designed case. Not a big fan of their shark logo on the dial though.

I like it! I have a Seiko 6105 Homage(Powder blue dial and sapphire bezel insert), as well as a Monster gen 3 Homage(frost dial) from this brand. I have a Seiko Turtle and a Seiko monster…. The build quality is as good or better than the Seiko’s. Thanks for the great review!

The thing about Helmdaller is it's a brand with some penetration beyond the hobby, partly because it has the coolest logo, also I love the Godzilla, this is obviously a great value peice.

Again a great video Shane. Thanks. At first look it's a wanna have. Great dial, hands and case design. But... when you mentioned the size of the watch... I'll look further. It doesn't fit the design for me. I have a 18 cm wrist and 38 to 42 mm. is perfect for me for diver watches. The Seestern 62MAS red dial is such a watch. I wear larger watches as well. I.E. The Tissot Supersport Chrono with a 45,5 mm case and over 50 mm. lug to lug span, that one does it for me. It's all in the design... And as always: "Looking forward to your next review."

Excellent video Shane. The sunlight shows up the dial nicely. I have a red dial Heimdallr Monster with great lume and it's absolutely fine diving. I've an 8" wrist and size wise this about the same as my Orient Mako XL, so it's ok. I do like it. I always see something I like when I've just spent money on a watch. Just got a nice unusual Orient chronograph, not the Neo 70's, it's got a totally different case. I got the last one available new in Istanbul, and can only find two for sale in Finland and two on eBay from Japan, maybe used, not sure. There is also just 1 review online from a Russian KZbinr. It's a kind of mystery as I can't find much about it. It's a Panda style, quartz with Orient Chronograph and a red Sp under it, 44mm. Model No FKV00008W0. I love it. It does show up on a variety of sites like Jomashop but all are sold out since 2019. Maybe it's a JDM model, if anyone knows anything about it please let me know!

I was a little concerned about my Heimdallr "Captain Willard" homage, but it appears very well made. Then I saw another Heimdallr diver (Orange dive watch sharky 200m ceramic NH36A HSC-H6 42mm) that had "Diver's 200m" on the face. Since this usually indicates ISO certification, I emailed Heimdallr about this and they answered pretty quickly: "Hi Sir. We don't have ISO 6542 certification for this watch. We only make 200m waterproof test before shipping. You can dive it with confidence. Thank you Heimdallr Watch Team Then on online chat: "Hi Sir, we don't have ISO certification for this watch. We only make pressure and waterproof tests in our own factory. It can be used for diving." You can take this as "buyer beware" or that Heimdallr has good and transparent customer service. I chose the latter. It only cost me $64.00 pre-owned on eBay anyway.

There's an episode of "Mad Men" where the creative team is tasked with re-creating Ann Margaret's opening song from "Bye Bye, Birdie" as faithfully as possible for an ad campaign. They write a decent song, use similar camera moves and lighting, and hire a beautiful and talented actress. When the final product is shown to the clients, however, they immediately reject it. There's nothing really wrong with it, they say; it's just not Ann Margaret. I don't have anything bad to say about this watch, but I kept thinking of that "Mad Men" scene throughout this review.

Making the watch a little smaller would actually require some design effort. As it is, it's simply too big for my 7" wrist, even if I really wanted that watch. The strap looks even more out of place on the snow and frost versions.

This is the ultimate dress diver, if that's a thing. Thinking about this one. I'm just worried about the grippiness on the bezel. Is that a deal breaker? I'm not sure. Edit: so the bezel isn't knurled, but it's still easy to turn. The watch is really pretty in person - the faceted sides are very pretty. I was concerned it might have some sharp parts, but the top inner corner where the lugs attach isn't sharp, but the bottom inner lug corners are very pointy. I don't feel them, but I was surprised. I'm going to think about a different strap, but not sure what. Crowd source any suggestions for something dressier?

No problem fitting this with a 5mm thick Strapcode Hexad bracelet. This is on of the chunkier bracelets and if the Heimdallr Godzilla homage will accept that I don't see a NATO posing much of an issue.

I like Heimdallar a lot and their willingness to homage watches not many if any at all are homaging, but this one missed the mark big time for me. Doesn't help that the original watch it's homaging was pretty polarising to begin with. If they're going to be continuing to homage GS watches then I'd like to see them do the GS Diver, possibly some of their new GMTs in the smaller case size or simpler dress watches.
