Everything about this video is simply wonderful -- the lighting, videography, sound, music, story, typing skill -- very well done indeed!

Typewriters are so freakin cute and beautiful, I recently bought a Noiseless 77 just like this for my 21st birthday and I'm too excited to get it! Thank you for the awesome video, it definitely gave me a good sense of what to expect 😊

I have one of these, but no leather straps. The typewriter rests on the shallow half of the case and is held in place by metal spring clamps. The deeper part of the case becomes closable as a dust cover since you can type with the machine still clamped into the bottom half of the case. Not exactly a laptop, but a fascinating design for a newspaper reporter on the road, or other traveling typists! The only thing I don't like about the machine is the fact that typing a capital letter means you must lift the entire roller with your little finger, and it comes down with a "clunk." Or maybe it was eased down by a spring that is now old and tired. But then so are my little fingers. ;-)

Excellent video! I bought a 1934 Noiseless 77 a few weeks ago, in good shape. However, at some point someone repainted it a light blue and covered up the decals. I was either going to put new decals on it the way it is, or unbolt the painted panels and repaint in its original glossy black. Have you ever come across repainted typewriters before?

Fantastic film! What a beautiful machine. Underwood Noiseless 77 come with glass keys at any time? Thank you for taking the time to make such spectacular films. I love them!

They might have, the earlier Remington noiseless machines did for sure, which this is. This is a Remington Noiseless 7 sold by underwood

I think this is similar to the machine that Virginia Woolf used, and maybe used to write "Orlando". Love it!

The metallic sound of Remington and Underwood noiseless typewriters is great, how do I get that sound?

I've owned one of these for several years, restored by Bill Wahl at Mesa Typewriter. Like every noiseless I've ever used, that type action is awful compared to the snap of a normal machine, but of course it is quieter. Great size, though.

Oh the leather straps.... losing my mind over this
@Saboda532 жыл бұрын
Lovely Noiseless! But if I’m not mistaken, those leather straps - nice as they are - are unnecessary; the case is upside down! That typewriter latches into the BASE of the case, which you are using as the top! I can only assume the case hardware that enables latching must be broken or missing. Still, gorgeous machine and a real nice video tour!

@@TypewriterChicago I’m just a typewriter enthusiast who wants a noiseless typewriter that is truly quiet! But I can type 60wpm≈ with a good accuracy on a manual typewriter. Nowhere near as good as you were back a few years ago when you typed 109 wpm on a manual. But typing sort of fast with good accuracy gives me rights to say, “T’is what I do best!”

These fascinating, wireless and solar powered machines, require specialized training and muscle power to move the keys. The f and j keys do not have orientation bumps like on a computer keyboard. The typewriter is an "elegant weapon for a more civilized age."

Hola , tengo una máquina de escribir como esta... Nunca usada. La recibí como herencia, quisiera saber su valor
@TypewriterChicago3 жыл бұрын
Value totally depends on the condition of the machine. If it is mint, serviced, and has new rubber and a ribbon, I sold this one for 550USD. If it has not been serviced or not working, anywhere from 20-175USD

Compared to a basket shift typewriter it’s quiet. Plus they’ve got the mic right down in the key,
