As we start to install the Moss Motors Carpet Kit in the 1960 MGA 1600, we discuss some of the challenges involved in using a pre-cut kit. Beginning with the felt padding, we trim and modify the pieces to fit well and then explain our gluing procedure that will take a little longer than some would like but gives a much better fit and finish. We start on the carpet with the driveshaft tunnel and look at how the center piece around the shifter leaves a little to be desired in how it’s stitched together (we will change that in the next video) Lastly, we discuss gluing and modifying the carpet pieces on the rear wheel wells to get it to lay smoothly. Look for more videos coming up soon as we continue to install the interior to get this car ready to be posted for sale on Bring A Trailer.

Outstanding video. You gave me some good ideas for my MGB carpet I'm installing tomorrow. I'm not using a carpet kit on this restoration as normally do. I wanted a new challenge staring from scratch using a new sewing machine I purchased.

Can't agree with you more regarding the floorboard holes being in the wrong places - and other aftermarket part problems. Enjoy your videos - keep up the good work! Nice MGA and TD.

I have been thinking about doing a video on how many issues there really are are with fitment on aftermarket parts, but I don’t want to sound like I’m just complaining😁

Thanks very much for the video. I've fitted the molded carpet before but I'm going to be doing the piecewise kit on my MGB this winter. Can you tell me what kind of glue you're using? I've tried a few different things in the past from contact cement to weather stripping glue and they've all worked more or less but if you have a recommendation I would appreciate it.

We are using weldwood contact adhesive, landau top and trim adhesive ( that’s how the can reads). It is supposed to be less prone to coming apart later with heat exposure than the 3M headliner glue I used to use.
