This is week 12 of our course on The History of the Modern United States (since 1877). Today we talk about the election of Kennedy, Camelot, his assassination, LBJ's Great Society and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the stillborn Alliance for Progress. The decade of the 1960s started out with hope and idealism, and ended with assassinations, riots, and the death of Camelot in 1968 in Chicago at the Democratic National Convention.
