Chris, I understand completely what you're saying. I have a degree in marketing and to put it in simple terms, promoted listing is just for more people to see your product. It doesn't guarantee sales at all. But when it does sale, you give that percentage to the platform. I only use promoted listing on items I want to be seen and get rid of. The right buyer knows what they are looking for and they can find me without me paying for a promo.

I would say the point of a promoted listing is to increase the probability of a buyer purchasing that item at any given time when they otherwise would not have seen the item.

You guys are crazy, when it comes to ad rates. Your driving the percentages higher and higher for sale desperation! Its complete insanity! Your basically competing with each other like everyone did in the race to the bottom on Amazon. it might be ok for now, but your complete inability to see the damage you are causing long term for short term benefit is outright stupidity! Business people claiming to be smart and teaching each other strategies that will eventually ruin your profit margins long term. Its pretty much dumb behaviour and a case of copycat mentality.
