Cameras are all so good now, the “negatives” are usually just ridiculous whining, or the reviewer didn’t bother to learn how to use the camera/feature. This channel is a prime example. Enter the brand ambassador, they actually know how to use the camera you bought, and devote their content to you getting the most out of it. I don’t see a problem. I’ve never seen a video by a brand ambassador where they lie, or disparage other brands, or even aggressively try to sell you something. It’s understood that most people watching a “How to shoot star panos with your EM1mk3” already own that camera.

@Zealadinn yes, like this channel loves to hate micro4/3. It was funny a few years ago, the first dozen times he said “micro four loser”… but now he’s putting a couple hundred dollar lens and stock Olympus video settings up against $6000 of Sony gear and then mocking the Olympus. It’s ridiculous.

Got to disagree regarding your comments on Robin Wong. Yes he used to be an Olympus ambassador so of course you'd expect a positive spin on their products but I always felt Robin gave well considered balanced reviews. The fact that he remains to this day primarily an Olympus shooter despite splitting from OM Digital should tell you he does and always has believed in the Olympus brand. He could so easily have switched brands after parting with OM just to spite them. He didn't and that proves to me his feelings toward Olympus were genuine and sincere. Given Robins enthusiasm for all things Olympus and his overall passion for photography I feel OM Digital made a huge error treating Robin they way they apparently did.

It's the same like it was 40 years ago, before the internet. The photo magazines put out reviews every month and there was never a really bad one. This was not surprising, as the manufacturers placed large advertisements there and largely financed the magazine with them. Only if you knew your way around, you could read the one or other hidden criticism between the lines. But then you wouldn't have needed the test. There are many others in the m43 world that just praise gear and sometimes mislead. Look for all the m43 ambassadors that initially endorsed the view that the OM1 has 2 stops improvement over the EM1 iii. There was one popular m43 reviewer of Pergear equipment that gave an endorsement of their 2x Macro lens with no proper testing and no consideration of what is important to different types of Macro photographers; my comment on his video was removed. This isnt at all limited to camera related youtubers. It's the same for artists and drawing tablets, shoemakers and shoes and bakers and bread ovens. Calling sponsored content reviews and giving out affiliate links where their viewers can then buy the product. There's a pretty obvious conflict of interest.

Exactly. When I look for reviews whether on YT or Yelp... I NEVER go to the most positive. Why? Most people need to love what they just spent their money on because... they wanted to buy it! Or... they are obviously hoping to catch a sponsor. We definitely need more of Spock in the world. Love your style. Cracks me up 🤣

Great you have talked about this phenomena. People are more advertised than educated about photography. Gear wars or "should i switch" talks are promoted way over their real importance. Photography skill and talent are neglected. We all know who are they and how they make money for their living..

reminds me of that yurev that got popular for reviewing cameras, sony invited the typical bunch (fro guy, dpreview, toneh, etc ) plus him to review the A6500 or whatever it was with a hotel stay, event day etc, and he did overheating tests during the night showing that the camera overheated and sony never sent him any more cameras. Those "release date" reviewers may say "i give my honest opinion " bla bla, but if they shit on it, they arent getting the next money to review.

For a second I was afraid my channel will be featured here ;). But when I review things I concentrate on flaws and cons ;), so I've been saved. Agree 100% ... have you heard that A7 IV overhears when NDA has been lifted? Gerald Undone said something, but generally it was all hype. And this camera can overheat while you are in the menus setting it :O. Robin Wong no longer OM ambasador ;) I think one channel of camera shop crashed Canon R5/R6 over overheating problem ... but generally you are 100% right. Only opinions of hobo youtubers are meaningful ... 3 types you mentioned are only for specs.

Haven't you thought of yourself as a shopping assistant. Who trust one in the shops nowadays? We all go on KZbin to watch people's opinion and then buy it. Vlogers are simply the people who sell products for big companies. Sometimes not even realizing it and not getting paid.

I don't know if you know, but Nikon is building a camera sensor that competes against NASA's James Webb Space Telescope. That way, we can get better iso above 6400 :)

Here is what you missed: People who buy an item for themself and then go on to tell you that its the best thing out there (even though they have no comparison). Like, they buy a monitor - they make a monitor review. They buy a mouse - they make a mouse review. They buy a car - they make a car review. Their channel is just full of "reviews" of random items they bought for themselves. They're often extremely biased because of course they made the perfect decision, they couldn't possibly have made a bad choice. Confirmation bias. They might still tell you about something that's wrong with it and that could be useful but often they just tell you its the BEST. What you want is an opinion of somebody who tests a LOT of items from that category (like cameras) and who has enough experience and comparison. I trust you by now because literally everything you have said about cameras I had or have now couldn't be more accurate (like A6600 or XT4). I like that you point out these little annoyances that you often only really get to if you actually use the camera for a while and don't just walk through the city once for an embargo-timed video review.

Dude, you wont get many items because you speak your mind and show the flaws in their products, even if you also show the good points (balanced review). That makes you valuable to reputable companies who will trust you whatever, because their products have to be decent to begin with.
