@@hankymcspanky1113 Absolutely not, the are many better rums in that price (e.g. Chairman's Reserve Original, Pusser's Blue Label, Appleton 8 - sometimes costs a bit more). Bacardi is all multicolumn distillation (and almost all sweetened) and even a hundred years in barrel won't make it brilliant.

If you wanna basically categorize rums, there are a sugar cane rums (Agricole) and molasses rums. Which are very different in terms of taste…both can be white or gold/dark…

OMG, Diplomatico 1st with its tons of sugar...Putting this along good rums like Holmes Cay, Rhum J.M, Barbancourt, Appleton, Equiano, The Real McCoy & Mount Gay,unreal... The "list" includes Bacardi, this guy doesn't know what he's talking about... There's so much good and real rum out there, like Foursquare, Longueteau, La Favorite, Neisson, Hampden, HSE, Saint James, Mhoba, Clement, Worthy Park, Black Tot, A1710, Bielle, Bira, Chairman's Reserve, Clairin, Compagnie Des Indes, Depaz, Dram Mor, Kill Devil, Savanna, Admiral Rodney, Nautical Reserve, Capovilla Marie Galante, South Pacific, Smith & Cross, Trois Rivieres, Wray & Nephew, etc etc etc.

Rum Reviewers coming in 🔥🔥 Okay so first of all.... there are some good rum brands on this list and some of which we would put in ours too. We always love sharing exciting brands so more people can discover unique and high quality rum... HOWEVER😅: 1. It is hard to trust anyone who still classifies and stereotypes rums by color. It is about as accurate as my weather man (50/50). Although some rums can be like that, we have had white rums aged longer than dark or spiced rums, spiced rums with much more than ginger and cinnamon, dark rums that are aged a shorter time and colored and so on. It is still a bit of the wild west out here so throw rules out the window. 2. These brands are an "Okay" start, but definitely missing some absolute musts. For the sake of time let's remove small craft rums from consideration... Here are a few I would add: Ron Abuelo, Foursquare, Santa Teresa, Don Pancho, Havana Club and El Dorado. 3. Some I think should not be on this list... Bacardi: Big Brand who wants your dollars. they are making some unique products but we all know its done inexpensively to make money and the quality just isn't there. This is as unique as saying Captain Morgan (they are owned by the same people) Shipwreck: look I love all their rum and it is so easy to drink. That being said, flavored rum is where they shine and it has a lot of added sweetness and flavors. Goslings: this is a staple for many but they really just have the one thing they did right. A good dark rum that pairs perfect in a dark and stormy cocktail. As far as brands go they are not interested in Innovation or getting beyond that at this point. Or at least they have been unsuccessful so far. Dictador: This one I personally love! They have a great variety and are incorporating crypto and NFTs. They even have the first Robot board member running the company! However as innovative and unique as they might be, the rum is good but not great. It is tasty and enjoyable but not exceptional. I will leave it at that. Mount Gay: look it is the oldest running distillery in the world (yaaaayyyyy we love that!) They make a great traditional rum style that is flavorful and a must try. However the brand is a bit boring as you don't see them do anything off the original path. I get it and appreciate keeping the tradition, bit in a world where rum is on the rise and brands are stepping up everywhere to try new things, tradition often gets forgotten unless it rises to the occasion. Flor De Cana: I will keep it short. I like the bolder and more aged Flor de cana. The younger aged can be a bit flat but has its place. A good brand but not top tier. I cannot speak on Equiano or Facundo as we have not explored that far just yet. The rest I think have an argument to be top 20. Not sure it would all be in mine (definitely not in that order) but I respect it. As long as people are exploring new rums and finding out how many amazing brands are out there, I am happy. Cheers🥃

I would say this list reflects what is available to the American Market not necessarily a list of the best. You entirely miss proper Cuban made havana clubs selection of rums because of the stupid embargo you have had since the early 60's. FFS talk about a grudge, I know it is the gov and not you, but they make some superb rums the 7 year old and the selection de maestros are very good, their white rum is also a very good white probably my favourite tbh, also I would have put Plantation much higher up as they have a fantastic selection of versatile products that cover just about every eventually from neat to cocktail making.

Flor de Cana is distilled in Nicaragua. It is column stilled. Rums that include pot still ingredients are tastier (eg Appleton)
