I’ve noticed a lot of Booktubers call regular fiction (or women’s fiction) books “literary fiction” but that’s a completely different genre 😅 just because it’s not romance doesn’t automatically make it “literary” fiction.. 😁

@@alinabaschnagel7208 literary fiction usually focuses on social commentary, deeper themes and experimenting with language (e.g. using literary devices). They’re usually more character-driven books (rather than plot-driven) and focus on life lessons and deeper meanings. Many classics fall under this category. Regular fiction has more sub-categories like women’s fiction. Whenever Haley talks about a book that doesn’t fall under the Romance genre, she’s really referring to the fiction genre, not literary fiction. If you’ve ever watched one of Jack Edwards’ videos, he talks about a lot of lit fic books ☺️ I love the general fiction genre too though!!

Dakota Fanning movies were like my childhood I swear 🤣 Uptown Girls, Secret Life of Bees, The Cat in the Hat, Charlotte’s Web, etc then Elle did All the Bright Places, Maleficent, The Nutcracker, The Great, and a ton of Dakotas films too!! hey haley just letting you know that literary fiction is usually classified as award winning books/modern classics. the books you talked about in this video were actually general fiction/women’s fiction. not hating just letting you know that it’s a harder distinction to make!

I might be super super late to the game, but I just discovered a genre called "literary thrillers" lol (I read The God of the Woods, not a five star but did really enjoy it) but maybe that is something you would like too with your thrillers? It is less "typical fast paced" and more backstory before the twists come.

As someone who got engaged at 19 and danced my whole life and a fellow book lover I feel like we would be friends. From everything you’ve said about books you love I think you would enjoy “Again but Better” by Christine Riccio. It’s a plot twist, time travel, enemies to lovers romance.
