This is definitely one of the biggest mysteries in the cars diecast line, and I will never understand why they did it, the biggest stain this mold left on the diecast line in my opinion is the cars on the road lightning mcqueen, it just looks so off with the cars 3 mold, I honestly kinda wish this whole mold thing never happened and that we’d still have consistent mcqueen molds to this day but I also don’t at the same time, idk why

Look at the headlights and taillights on the original McQueen. They don't look good(they're lopsided)

@@1qgio I agree. With OG McQueen, the headlights have never looked correct. I don't hate the new cast, and probably one prefer the OG because it's what we're used to but I can't tell which one I think is more accurate. I think the windshield shape on the 3 cast looks more correct but I can't tell.

I remember Disney Docket made a little guess and said that McQueen probably lost weight or something. This is also one of the things I want to know about McQueen’s casting change for Cars 3. It’s unfortunate that we don’t have an official answer for it.

People after reconstructive surgery normally lose weight. After his crash, it would make sense he lose some pounds. He got fat by having his lines get taller and not wide like before

@@BeachRacer20 fr they made of metal they can’t just lose weight if they drive a lot or can’t gain weight by drinking oil maybe they could change there design to look thin or thick but they can’t gain or lose weight

I think that the reason he is thinner is the fact that the next gens are wider so it would be cheaper to re-cast McQueen and not make the next gens wider to fit the same scale. This also proves why he is the regular size with the demolition derby cars as they are a normal size car so there is no need to rescale as it would look off against them. Honestly it wouldn’t have made a difference and I just wish that they kept the old mould as he looks off against mater and other cars

9:08 hey PCP, I think I found reasons why they stuck with that mold. For XRS mud racer and Chester, since they were from 2017 and 2018, Mattel probably just forgot to change the mold, for the 24 hour endurance racer, I think it was because it was easier to just reuse the cars 2 mold, and for Pixar fest, it was probably because they were based off cars one designs, (2020 being based off motorrama McQueen and 2021 being based off RS McQueen.)

i guess they tried to make a new mold for some variations of mcqueen and for other exclusive sub line toys such as xrs racers , nascar racers , etc i mean probaly they got tired of just using one mold and swaped it for a new one and after form 2018 to 2020 thailand and vietnam shared the same method

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Sure, he fits on all the track, but anything else Hot Wheels related, he will not work, like launchers, speed boosters and even some loop de loops

For the Pixar Fest cars and the 24hr McQueen the Pixar Fest cars are Cars 1 styles of McQueen and the 24hr McQueen is from Cars 2 type style so what they probably thought to do is keep the same mold for those as the Pixar Fest McQueen's are probably Cars 1 McQueen as Cars 1 is the most iconic to people (for the most part) so that might explain that why you think they didn't change the mold to Cars 3 McQueen for Pixar Fest and 24hr.

I have a theory they are trying to save plastic witch is trying to make the playset track slimmer,but kids want to put a McQueen on a playset witch is probly why he’s thinner

My guess is that when he got old, he got fat. I did notice in Cars 3 that he did have his back portion built up near his spoiler, so yeah. But someone explain why WHIPPLEFILTER is in Cars 1 mold

I have the muddy McQueen and Jackson storm and the Doc Hudson from cars 3 i all so have his crew chief Smokey to I have all the McQueens

I dont think the thinner mcqueen is bad, It kinda looks better? originally i disliked it but i think that was more just weird front bumpers and ext.. like ive never liked cars 2 mcqueen because the eyes and roof look so soft and rounded

Have you heard? There's a new track talkers twin pack found that comes with McQueen and storm based on the glow racers line! Not sure if they will have the same phrases and sounds like the standard versions or not. I have a bad feeling that it is. Agree?
