Enjoyed the review. "Riding like a 4t", I was just thinking the same thing. 2t is "point and shoot", getting your aim right is the skill of riding them. And the guy who wanted a 4t is probably better off on one. If people ride a 2t like a 4t, they may as well own a 4t.
@pierceb2105
@pierceb2105 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah agreed. With the lack of low-end torque, small bore 2T's need to be kept high in the rev range and up in the powerband.
@AuMechanic
@AuMechanic 6 жыл бұрын
Its that too, but the art is predicting the power band. Otherwise known as the "point and shoot" method, you are aiming to shoot the bike through an arc on the exit like a missile trajectory. If you overshoot you leave the track, you under shoot it bogs down. If you come out of the corner so fast you almost leave the track you know you got it right. Dirt and road racing the basics are the same, I rode dirt 2t not racing and road raced 2t twins many years ago. The 2t needs to ride out of the turn in a trajectory. 4t can get out with torque but a 2t can exploit that. A light 2t can go under a 4t in to a corner without too much trouble and ride a the arc across the front of a 4t and the 4t looses its edge out of the turn. Once you learn to aim and shoot the 2t the fun starts. Put it this way, using a firearm wouldn't much fun if you couldn't hit the side of a barn with one. Likewise if you cant aim a 2t they are not as much fun to ride.

Yz125 and didnt show respect.. No buddy it not JUST a 125.. Its a frickin boost Mobil yz 125. It would defin get a wheelie in any gear.. Kinda hat this insane top side.. She would putt around great on tje low end but once u get up top she just screamed. I mean it would literaly throe ya off the back if you werent ready. Every single person i let ride it would wreck it. Faster than any 250 I ever rode. And very light. Awesome bikes. Yz life baby.

There is not comparison between a 250f and 125 anymore. At one point there was, but four stroke technology continues to improve where as two stroke is mostly unchanged. My yz250f is super torquy where my rm125 is all top end. My 125 is fun because it is so light, but is basically a track toy. You can barely ride trail with them and tracks with deep ruts are really difficult. I wouldn't have a 125 as my only bike but I ride single track. It's really based on your riding style, weight, and what you ride I wouldn't necessarily categorize either as strictly a beginner bike. 125s are typically the first full sized bike for people though because of their weight

I’d rather completely rebuild a early 2000’s model top to bottom than buy a 125 for 6,500$- 7,000$ 🤦🏽‍♂️

Canadian Boy no. A yz125 will pull around someone who is 200lbs like nothing

@@benwebster1899 I thought so. I haven't been on a bike in 13 years. Just debating between yz125 or yz250. Last bike was a 1980 rm125. What bike would you go with?

Yxng Glock I know I’m a little late but if your looking to race, get an 85 or 125 based on how tall you are, but yes 100s are a thing

Ya they made a kx100 which is bascially an 85 with a little more power.I owned one and it was a great bike.I believe that they also made a rm100 which is exactly the same,it was when suzuki and kawi where trading designs.

I rode a 2002 yz125 with 2015 conversion kit and a whole bunch of aftermarket shit. The thing ripped, hard to keep the front wheel down. As soon as i sell my kdx 200 im getting me a 250 2 smoker

Yea zach, im with you on these 125's they're the only classic carbureted 2 strokes that you can still buy new, plus they have the highest specific output(husqvarna FC125 makes .33 hp PER CC), they're the highest strung of all mx bike classes usually.

Man I remember when would go camping and smell the morning breeze, here the faint roars of dirtbikes and fourwheelers on the trails and ride my little tiny 75. I would always think it was cool how I was followed by the dust. But we sold that bike, and I have yet to get one yet. And VA has no good trails

I am 15, 6'0 and 150. Do you think the yz125 is a good first bike? If so, I'm buying it this summer. I have about 3 hours seat time on dirtbikes total, and never on a bike that big.

I got to test some yamaha's back in 2014. Ended up buying a brand new yz250f that year lol but they didn't make us sign anything saying we'd pay for it if we broke it so I just went all out on their 450 and 250 2-stroke.
