Been following and liking your Stinger videos and did plenty of other research on the vehicle with the intention of purchasing one over this Holiday weekend. Visited (2) Kia dealerships trying to purchase a GT (not GT1 or GTS or GT2) as it SHOULD have fit my budget better but had to walk away from their "offers". Dealers wanted significantly more for down payment and monthly lease than I knew they should be asking especially for the end of the month. This was unexpected with Stinger sales being significantly weaker than a year ago. Saturday August 31st I went home in the afternoon feeling that it was simply not my time yet and then got a call from the Genesis dealer. Test drove the G70 3.3T RWD Advanced about a month ago and loved it but it was more money with a smaller back seat and a tiny trunk. Long story short, I changed my mind on the vehicle and was able to lease the G70 3.3T RWD Advanced for MUCH less than the Kia dealers were trying to charge me for the GT. I'm happy. The G70 is more feature rich and upscale than the Stinger GT, a bit lighter and slightly firmer and arguably, more entertaining to drive, but it's kind of a shame that the Kia dealership network seems to be, at least in my area, shooting themselves in the foot. One of the salesmen at the Kia dealership acknowledged that they've been losing sales to the G70. I still really like the Stinger and I'll continue to follow your videos as the (2) vehicles share major mechanical components and drive in an almost identical manner.

GTS is nice but not a lot more bit than a GT. Agreed, as a "1 of 800" they could've put some bits on it to stand out.... Blackout wheels or carbon, Black Brembos, carbon lip spoiler come to mind on the exterior. Orange stitching and GT on the seat headrest in orange... Yep, they could've done more... Nice review as always!

I dont know if dealer would ship to me but I'm seeing 2019 GT1 AWD about $5000 less than GT2. And in between is 37K for GTS. All on east coast. Am at same dealer has black and one white 2019 GT AWD for 30K! That sounds like a sweet deal but the bells and whistles are important to me too. Tough decision.

as some one who just bought the GTS Awd I do agree with some of your views. I was little upset that it didn't match the show model at the auto show with everything on the outside being CF. but the Awd model does come with the LSD, as for the shift system I prefer the one that comes in it.. I hate cars with the Manual option that you cant put IN manual.... with the GT2 "drive by wire" system it does look better but when I click into manual mode I want it to stay there the Drive by wire models don't. They auto back to auto after a few seconds of not being used. I do wish that the interior was also little more separate from the others. Making all the seats alcantara with orange accents. and maybe a number plate saying what number that particular car was from 1-800.

Glad you chimed in! I am glad that the GTS exists. I love the idea of the model itself, I just felt like it could have been executed better. And i hear you on the drive by wire system. Full manual seems to be a distant dream these days. I was excited when I first heard and saw the GTS and even made a detailed video on what was to come but I cant say that my excitement was matched once I finally came face to face with it.

The GT1 with the non drive by wire will hold manual mode with you put the shifter to the left. That is why it is better than the GT2. Who needs a power lift back?

I think Kia did just enough to particularize the GTS, i.e. they stayed well within a budget and got the job done. I know a guy who turned in his MY18 GT2 lease to get a GTS and although he misses some of the features of the GT2, he is really happy with the GTS. When I went to buy a Stinger I pointed to the SEMA Fed Orange show car in the promo book and said, "I want that color." I knew it wasn't available, but I was messing with them to see how far I could push for it: and the sales manage said, "Hey, lease a Stinger from us and have it repainted any color you like." Okay, so I had permission to change the Silky Silver GT1 I bought if I wanted to: and I have imagined wrapping it in Fed Orange. But here's the reality: if someone said, "Here's a brand new GTS, I'll swap you for your MY18 GT1", I would refuse: because in 16 months and c. 27K miles I have not had even one teensy thing go wrong with my car: that is of more value to me than risking another vehicle! :D

I think the gt1 is very well equipped, but the 2 things that i personally like about the gt2 more than the gt1 is the nappa leather/drive by wire.

Yeah, Personally i don t care much about the trucklid/heads ups display. But, the 360 degrees camera, nappa leather, drive by wire gives the gt2 a more premium feel comparing with the gt1/gts.

Still think the GT bass is best value. GTS is pretty much the same thing for 5k more just because of exterior design add ons not worth it. GT1 better to get if your looking to spend 46k.

Great comparison Ron. Having just bought a snow white with red interior GT about 2 months ago as well, I was concerned that I should have waited for a GTS model - not any more. In Australia we don’t have GT1 / GT2 variants; our GT sounds like it’s fitted out like a GT2 and I think that if I had the choice I’d definitely choose my GT over the GTS. Yeah you get some carbon fibre, but as you said, you lose some other features. The smaller screen in the gauge cluster and removing the power tailgate seem like strange decisions from KIA.

Kia missed an opportunity to actually make an upgrade in the GTS. They should have different Rim options, subtle exterior and interior styling changes along with the performance. It would have made sense for them to upgrade the exhaust, ECU and all of that and made this the flagship Stinger instead of a tweener change.The GT2 should be the "luxury Stinger" and the GTS should be the legit sport version. The steering wheel is silly though. Should be leather.

Kia's model naming for the Stinger is really all over the place for all over the world. In the UK we only have GT and GT/S with the same engines as everyone else and we don't get that huge gear change shifter which frankly looks horrendous but does mean you get manual control over the gears. But our V6 only comes as one fully loaded package. The Orange colour here is the std colour in the UK, which NO-ONE buys. Like the carbon fibre as all the black chrome is hard to keep looking nice. Then you have now in the EU, no 2ltr option. Oh well!.

Pick G70 if you don't care about rear leg room or Sportback design. And, the Genesis experience may almost always be better than KIA's depending on your location. KIA still in my opinion offers better value spec for spec. Both will be very similar. Be sure to test drive both, and keep in mind of the dealership experience. The post purchase experience is as important as anything else. Both these cars offer a 10y 100k warranty. So you'll be spending an awful lot of time with these dealerships if anything goes wrong. If your KIA dealership is top tier than I would honestly lean more towards the Stinger. Far more options for aftermarket performance parts.

I started that debate with myself..... then brought the G80 into the discussion. I'm a bigger dude and the 70 just wouldn't be big enough. I posed the question to Straight Pipes and they both said Stinger. The hatch would be beneficial however I love the refinement of the 80. Buuuuut...... the stinger stands out more on the road and I like more unique things!!!! Ughhhhhhhh.... I can't decide!

@@chucknorris5141 Right. That's what's so impressive from KIA. No one expects such a car to come from a brand that made cars for 10k new within a decade ago. Of course because KIA hired BMW and Audi designers to show that even with how little budget they had, they can make something great. This is why Toyota's excuse for why the Supra needed to be co developed is bonkers. Toyota has billions more dollars to work with, but invest far less in R&D than KIA/Hyundai. G80 will be a good choice for a lot of people. It's not flashy which some people prefer. That's why the M5 exist and apparently sold well to people who wanted sleeper performance sedans. G80, if equipped properly id basically a sleeper.

The Genesis G70 is great: smaller, lighter and that is it. The Stinger is bigger, heavier and looks so much better. The Stinger is truly a GT car where the G70 is in between. The Stinger is for the road and every day enjoyment as well as for trips and journeys: It is a true Grand Touring where the G70 is simply put, an everyday day to enjoy. That said, The Stinger gets much more attention and is still is such fun to drive every where. When you drive or park a Stinger, it simply draws lookers period and the G70 does not as that is cool

sorry, the GTS was built to be unique and the best for KIA as a luxury sport and as that, the GTS is exactly that. It has drift mode which is really an all out rear wheel performance when desired and yes it does lack the auto out back but why do you need that? If you want a great looking unique orange car with drift mode, rear wheel drive as well, then the GTS is the only way to go

I have HUGE pet peeve about AWD and/or 4wd vehicles that don't have a limited slip rear differential!!!!!! What is the point?? without the LSD AWD or 4wd turns into 2 wheel drive. The one front and one rear wheel with the LEAST traction get all the power. For the few hundred dollars it cost put it in!!! I was shopping for a new pick up recently and not ONE 4wd truck on the lot had a LSD. I asked the sales manager why. He said 'with 4 wheel drive you don't need it" BS!!!! I live in a northern climate and in the winter the difference between 4wd trucks with LSD and without is huge. My neighbor has the exact same truck as mine only with out LSD and I have to pull him up his driveway at least once or twice every winter. For a car like the stinger how fun would it be to have a LSD AND the ability to turn off the AWD so you can play like a high HP rear drive muscle car!! KIA PLEASE make the LSD an option on the stinger AWD. I don't want the awful orange color but I want to buy a stinger and want the LSD

Want a better gts, just get the mexican Stinger gt which is RWD and has the sport+ mode with the option to switch off all assistances, you'll get the orange color but you'll miss carbon fiber

Hardly any difference, carbon fire is cool, but they've cut costs on the rear/fake vents. Yes its "nice" but the colour, not for me. You know what i'd like to see, a GT1/GT2, differences? (Maybe you have already done a video, if so please link me)
