Chill on the criticism, friend. This is A+ swing dancing. Feel free to publicly criticize when you get 3rd place in classic.

@@AndrewSunada I'm entitled to my opinion. Same as you. Friend.

Sure, but the statement "that's not swing music" isnt an opinion. That's a statement of fact. Swing music has a technical definition, which this song falls under. The song is technically a swing song. If you said "that's not my swing" or "that's not my swing and therefore I dont like it", that would be an opinion.

@@AndrewSunada Sure they are dancing West Coast Swing, but music doesn't suit the dance. Watch the US Open in the 1990's. That is swing music. i.e Tatyiana and Jordan's first US open comp. Just like you wouldn't see anyone doing Lindy Hop today, to music that doesn't fit the dance. Like new age music. That would be an insult to the dance. Same goes for Carolina Shag, they stay with the music the dance was meant for. Do you understand what I mean?

@@jazzye6493 Sure. It sounds like you're saying you believe swing music to be a specific genre of song. Probably mostly blues. Also, you used the phrase "lindy hop today, to music that doesn't fit the dance". I'd love to understand what you mean by "fit". I've seen a lot of lindy hop danced to music that isn't "big band swing". If you're the kind of person that really just enjoys watching west coast swing and lindy hop and shag danced to the same type/genre/feel of music it was danced to when it first came out, that totally makes sense and more power to you! However, I think it's important that we also honour the growth of the dance to the music that is current to today as well. We can't keep this dance around by only dancing to what it used to be danced to or even only what it may be to today. To keep this dance alive, I believe it's important to dance now with an eye to the future and real, honest respect for where the dance has come from. Thank you so much for your thoughts, @Patsy E! All voices are important and even though we may disagree on what sort of music we may want to dance to, I like to think the important thing is that we are all dancing!
