I agree 100%, many people hate Harley but I don’t think they get it. HD captures the American spirit, tough/rugged built they’re made for long comfortable rides, highways and long roads, definitely not good in traffic but they look cool. Triumph especially the Bonneville captures the British spirit, made for back country roads curves and bends. Japanese bikes are practical , reliable bikes but they’re almost too practical and perfect and they often lack character and appear bland with the exception to a few models like Honda cub, DAX, monkey, z900 Suzuki katana, Yamaha XR 500 to name a few Italian bikes are stylish and unique they always push the boundaries when it comes to design. Every brand has a special place and I love it when manufacturers pays homage to the origin of the motorcycle when they build and design them. The reason why I subscribed to your channel is because you get it, you’re passionate, you understand and embrace every element that makes a motorcycle different and unique. I love how exited you get when you see a motorcycle. I can see that you’re a true motorcycle enthusiast and I love watching you guys, both You and Monica!

If you put it in gear, get the clutch to the biting point, then just as it beginning to pull forward, snick it up into neutral, you'll find it much easier to find. After about 2k miles, they select neutral much easier, but they're a pig until then. Hope that helps!

Great vid, enjoyed! First let me say, just ride. In my teens until 30’s I had, Kawasaki, Suzuki’s, and Honda’s. Bought my first Harley in my 30’s, and now will only ride a H-D. All bikes are great, but, look the same.. Every H-D is different, each rider adds their personal touches. I have an 883, Softail Slim( which my 26 year old son has claimed as his first bike) and recently added a 2021RKS in vivid black. Hands down, I was expecting greatness, and it has exceeded my expectations. I’m 6’4”, 260, bike fits perfect! Simply put, you want a car with 2 wheels, get a gold wing or bmw, m, want a motorcycle, get a Harley! Ride safe my friends!

Top tip for finding neutral - quite often its considered a clutch adjustment is necessary, other times a primary chain adjustment, but simply quite often stick it down to first, slightly release clutch to engage gear then lift lift to neutral - Good luck.

Hello from Nashville Tennessee USA. Just started watching your videos. Love them. My 1st street bike was a 1986 Harley sportster 1100. Road it all through college. I think the reason big bikes like Harley’s are the thing here is the riding distances. 10 years ago I took a road trip on a heritage soft tail classic from Nashville to Bath , Maine via the blue ridge parkway, through Boston, Manhattan, Long Island, ferry to Connecticut, Mystic seaport, to Bath. 17 days, 2700 miles on the bike. Just me, my gear, and the open road. That’s what bikes like Harleys are best at. Now I’m older, and my long distance weeks long trip days are over, I’m thinking of getting a royal enfield for around town commuting and short day trips. It doesn’t matter what bike you ride, just ride, and I can see from your vids you do. Keep the great vids coming!

Great video as always Freddie and Monika. I'm often in Suffolk and Southwold area on my Honda 750 as I’m from Norfolk, I use bikes as my only transport and have done for 6.5 years now! Regarding the Harley thing, I used to be really bothered about what others thought and having been through around 10 bikes now, I just choose the bike that speaks the most to me and the one I love the most because after all, biking is a personal thing and so your choice of bike should reflect that and not what other people say you should have. Life's too short to be living in other peoples boots😌Just a little tip for getting it into neutral too, you normally find it'll go in a little easier if you give the throttle a blip when it's being difficult. Try it next time, I bet it'll work😄Keep up the great work and intoxicating enthusiasm👍🏼🏍

Don’t worry about what others think of your bike. I’ve got a Harley and a maxi scooter which means that people either hate because I’m on a Harley or hate because I’m on a scooter. 😂 Generally from my experience everyone other than BMW GS riders and the odd sport bike purist says hi or nods whatever. If they don’t I don’t really care either because I didn’t buy either bike to please some random passing riders. The Harley makes me smile and that’s all that I care about. People would be a lot happier if they cared less about what others think. I personally like anything with two wheels and a licence.

Love the vlogs. They’re a great blend of local exploration and bike review 👍 I agree that HD polarise opinion within the biking scene. None bikers simply see them as the pinnacle of biking desirability, which is odd because lots of bikes are as good or better. I think it’s the image they have. I’ve owned lots of bikes including sport, enduro, cruiser. My current ride is a HD Dyna Fat Bob. It’s the most basic, visceral bike I’ve ever owned and I love it. I recently spent a month riding 4500 miles through France and Spain and felt every mile, in the best possible way. Some modern bikes are more like two wheeled cars, they are so refined. HDs retain much of the original sensation of motorcycling which always puts a smile on my face. All bikes are great and unite people in our common passion and your vlogs showcase your passion for biking. I love your enthusiasm of 60s cars which puts a grin on my face because I’m 62 years old and grew up with many of them 😊

Fred, you know that just because Harley make bikes that are of an old style it will obviously attract older riders due to memory nostalgia. But have no doubts they are probably the coolest brand out there with Triumph closing in fast. HI Freddie, I had a HD Roaster 1200CC (2016) and that bike was just pure madness. Pulling like a train, the sound was just unbelievable (Had some V&H on her) but that was it. No brakes of any kind, no steering or shocks. But the thing was such a beast. I remember when sold it and took the SpeedTriple (2013) and man, when i brake on this the ABS kicked in. i said to myself "oh so this how it should be." I had a Kawasaki er6n, then a BMW r1200 GS Adv (still have it), Yamaha R6 (2006) the Harley and now the Speedy. I love all the bike, now i m saving money to buy a Harley FatBob or a Bonnie. I think people hate them because they are not god in performance but they somehow still manage to get the love of everyone ho lay eye on them. Thank you and Monika for this. The sound i really nice.

Road several different makes and models of motorcycles when I was in my early twenties before I rode and then purchased my first Harley in 1984, a 1979 Low Rider. Been hooked on them ever since. You can make them just about anything you want them to be. Now I’m 61 years old and ten Harleys later I’m still riding a Harley. In fact, I currently own a 2010 Electraglide Ultra Limited and a gorgeous 2016 Heritage Softail Classic. I want to get another Road King but it will have to be purchased used as they no longer make the Road King Classic which I believe is the best looking Road King ever produced. Great vlog and I hope you were able to pull the trigger on that beautiful piece of rolling thunder.

I’ve ridden Harleys for 30 years now - currently have a 2019 Street Glide Special with a few hidden performance mods and upgraded suspension and brakes, but I also have a Cagiva Raptor, Triumph Sprint ST, a couple of old classics - sprung-hub TR5 and Norton Atlas……oh, and a Beemer R1200GS. I love ‘em all but the Street Glide is the most challenging to press on with, so is strangely the most engaging and rewarding when you get it right. So good that we used it to do the NC500 this year - 2,500 mile trip door to door…..brilliant. (although the Applecross section was a tad butt-clenching 2 up in the wet with gravel strewn across those 3 infamous hairpins).

I get your point about Harley bikes, I wouldn't have one but I did rent a Road King in California for a weekend while in Paulo Alto with work, I enjoyed riding it but found it hard work. It was fun when waiting at crossing, vetc. in town where little kids would wave at me and when I reved it and waved back their little faces lit up. My home town in Scotland has small door like that seaside town you visited, it isn't a costal town but my ex-wife used to comment on how small the house doors were, I'm not sure why, I guess they are more energy efficient not as draft as a large doorway! Loving the videos, working my way back through some of your older ones.

Totally agree with Stephen Glover. The naysayers have been saying the same old stuff for the 45 years that I've been riding! Never, ever, listen to the Naysayers. Ride the bike that fires your passion. Had many bikes over the years including a Bonnie (1977 T140V) and have been riding a Sportster for the last eleven, to and from work in London and for day trips (all seasons). Then my wife and I did what you and Monika are doing. Packed up everything, sold the house, put my wife on a plane and I rode the Sportster across Europe to our new home. That was 5 years ago and we haven't looked back since :-) Best wishes to both of you.

The panniers are removable, which is just as well when you need to check the rear tyre pressure. I had a Harley Davidson Dyna and about five years ago traded it in for a KTM adventure bike. The Harley was nice to ride locally but on long journeys was uncomfortable on my lower back, especially after riding from Mijas Andalusia to Asturias.

Different pipe and you get the most beautiful sound out of that engine. You will remember the sound in your sleep. Every ride will have that soundtrack and signature. The neutral is easy to find, after you get used to it. I have always ridden European bikes both Italian and British. Next to my European bikes, my Street Glide is my favorite. It does something to my soul. My other bikes are faster, sleeker, corner better but none of this really matter. The harley writes a story on my heart everytime I ride it. Never had a bike, where young and old and in between stop to admire it. My daughter is an adult and walks past my other bikes as if they are invisible and simply goes after my Harley. I have no desire to convince ignorant on either side of the argument, your life must be miserable for you to hate motorcycles of any brand.

I know this comment is a year late but I've owned 7 or 8 harleys in the past. The easiest way to get them into neutral is to gently nudge it in just as you're coasting to a stop but before you get there. It just glides right in. Otherwise, it can be a pain. That is a great color. It's kind of a gray/green but let's call it gray. I've been in every sort of biker life and for old school bikers (at least in the US), green is an unlucky color to paint a harley. Just like with the essence of harleys, this color pushes the rules and looks great doing it. I do like a louder thumpety sound though. I've had several quiet bikes and other drivers have an occasion to not know I'm right next to them. Not so with my thumpy ones. That said, the loud ones are quite taxing on the highway. Quiet or loud though, a set of earplugs makes a remarkable difference in how tired you are after riding for several hours. And yes, that is a bagger. Old school name could also be called a couch because it's a comfy cruiser with all them new fangled shocks n such. As far as sunglasses go, I've gotten probably a dozen from several deployments in the army and bought a bunch for riding but I've found the cheap $5 (prolly $10 now) ray bans keep the wind out of my eyes much better than the wrap-around style or any with stand-off nose thingies. Plus, they suit the classic overall harley look.

I’m enjoying my 2020 FLHRXS so much. I love this bike! Getting into neutral will get better with miles. Also I’ve changed transmission oil to Red Line, which improved transmission’s reaction to my input. I have 4.5k miles on mine and trans clicks surely and with finesse. 👌🏻 And the exhaust, well… I’ve changed it and now it sounds like it used to. 👌🏻 Freddie, I highly recommend this bike to you. All the best!

Hello mate from the USA. I’ve had my 2021 deadwood road king special for about 3 months now. It’s my first bike and I’m taking it super slow and practicing slow maneuvers in a parking lot 99% of the time but I can agree with you on everything. The bike is amazing and is truly well built. Also when I can get the wife out of the house we are for sure going to visit that town you showed in the video and make a day of it. Great video.

Freddie.....the sound is now excellent. Loving the videos. I currently ride a GS1200 which is perfect for touring and currently has 27,000 miles on the clock. Before this bike I had three Harleys, the last one being a 2014 Ultra Limited with Vance & Hines Monster Oval pipes. It was heaven, sounded amazing, like low rumbles of thunder and I will, I am sure have another Harley at some stage. The Ultra was not ideal on Spanish mountain switchbacks, certainly not when two up and fully loaded. The BMW however can cope with anything. I am fortunate that I live in Exeter and therefore the South West peninsular is my playground.....this year I have been touring in the UK.....twice in Wales and thoroughly recommend it. Keep the videos coming!

If it makes you happy it's right for you. Third Harley since 1988. A 1999 FXDL. Seem to recall £14k 25 years ago. £22k for a RK now is relatively cheaper but it's a ton of money, there has to be an introductory model, I bought an 883 new in 1988, chain drive, 4 speed that was to get away from the Japanese four when I still couldn't afford a Vincent rapide. Took my evo FXDL to the beach at Collior on the med from Devon. Happy days.

Awesome KZbin Channel. I know what you mean about Harley, I've owned many different brands of motorcycles but never a Harley. I went for a test ride on a Street Bobber a few months ago and I think I'll be on a Harley before the end of the year. I was surprised by the fit and finish and they are just so much fun to ride, and in the end, that's what it's all about.

Dare I say it, I'm a BMW rider, I ride the most common bike out there, a GSA and whilst it's a competent bike, that Harley is absolutely stunning and I found myself announcing to the Mrs numerous times whilst watching your video, "I'd have one of those". 👌 On a different note, the RODE Wireless Go, I use one also and they are brilliant and so simple and reliable to use. I noticed you moved it from your t-shirt to the jacket which was a good move, if you are going to position it close to your mouth make sure you have the DB setting on the lower mode and don't shout into it, it is very sensitive and will pick up your audio just fine. I occasionally clip it onto a belt loop on my jeans so it is not as obtrusive and it still works brilliantly. Keep up the good work on the videos, they are excellent. 👍

As a mid-20 year old, who mainly rides a Triumph Tiger 800 XC adventure bike, I don't exactly fit the bill for many young riders on their supersports or super-naked machines. For me, I sit there and look at HD's and Indian's and think... WOW beautiful machines. Even at my age, I am seriously considering a cruiser... what could be more delightful than cruising around the British countryside, on a V twin thumping away, with your feet forward, soaking up the views.

Hello Fred. Like your videos. Monica does very well with the camera. I think Harley Davidson makes a terrific bike and my father owned one. However, I prefer Royal Enfield and that’s what I ride.

Owned a Harley, love hate relationship. When I sold it I found that the hate formulated from the hate of other bikers, went triumph as a 50/50 compromise. Lesson learned; never factor the option of others. Great work as always.nb, HD supply a exspensive blank canvas that I found very reliable, always made me smile.

A H-D to me, is the King of Motorcycles. A must have for a True Biker, but alas, not the only bike we would ever ride. Owning an Indian would be the next coolest bike to ride and own. These are just my opinions, for I truly love all styles and makes of bikes. This is a great video! I enjoy all of your interesting and wonderful videos! RideWithPeace. fromTexasUSA.

Again great review. I really need to visit the U.K., rent a motorcycle and explore all those old towns experience that beautiful countryside. I agree, the build quality looks better, nothing like exposed cables and odd looking bolts. The Road King also has a few pretty sweet windscreen options including a bat wing fairing to stop the wind blast for those highway rips. Still out of my price range! Merp!

Hey Freddie. I love the Roadking Special about as much as you do. I own the 2019 Roadking standard. I came into a little money and blacked it out trying to copy the special. It's close but not quite. I did a stage 3 from Harley and a D&D pipe along with too many other things to list. I may sill end up buying a new special anyway. Your audio sounds great by the way. You're crazy about your bike and it shows. 😜. Have a good day Freddie!

Input from a random guy from Canada. I quite like Harleys. They have their place. If I had the money, I'd own a garage full of motorcycles. I would definitely own other bikes before a Harley though. It's a lot of the PEOPLE that ride Harleys that I find off putting, not the bikes themselves. I'm a British bike fan for life. 👌
